Quite often players with high pings such pings of 200 and over join server and causes I server to lag. My question is if they keep joining are we allowed to tban them?

I mean, it's not their fault that they don't live next to the server...and can it be confirmed that they are what's causing the server lag?

wizekraker,

Sorry to inform you, but under any circumstances are members allowed to kick, tban, or ban a player from our servers for high ping, this rule has been in place ever since I joined eGO.

I hope this helps.

Super

Another gaming misconception. Take it from this thread created by Blue Stealth, DoD DL. http://edge-gamers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1649350&postcount=5

High Pingers are giving me the Lag!
This is blatantly untrue. High ping players joining a server may give a momentary ping spike, but once they are on the server, as annoying as it may be to see them warping about or running into walls, their ping does not impact directly on your ping in any significant way. The server allocates a maximum capped amount of bandwidth to each individual so again a player with a higher ping cannot draw more bandwidth than anyone else. The server doesn't slow down to provide data at a slower rate for dial uppers for example. If you look at your Ping and see that it is relatively low (i.e. below 200ms) then any lag you experience is because of graphical slowdown. If you're experiencing warping, that's packet loss and due to the server. If your ping is extremely high, and/or those of other players suddenly become quite high, then you may have a valid point in saying the server is laggy. However once again, this is not due to high ping individuals, since they cannot force a server to lag out. Note that virtually any time large

I sometimes just say, "Hey *name* your ping is ridiculous man can you fix it?" to which 90% of them never reply because they probably don't even see the message due to lag.

The only real thing having a lagger in the server does is make it frustrating when they get hitbox priority over you due the the extra latency. Shooting someone in the chest 5 times with a sniper rifle without a single hit marker just to have them turn around and kill you with a 2-shot burst from an M16 is pretty frustrating, but not a kickable/bannable offense. Since our servers have been gaining more popularity lately I have noticed a lot more 150ms+ people, which is where it really starts to become apparent that there's lag on their end.

but this game uses client-side hit detection, although it can be frustrating when you dive behind a wall and they kill you anyway, if you can't hit them after 5 shots that's on you.

hey easy on dem Tbans .. I like play .. my ping varies from 150 to 270 and I live in Hawaii so I don't have a choice lol ....

It uses client-side hit detection until their latency is so much higher than yours that their player model is somewhere else than where it appears to be. If I'm literally 15 meters away from a target and I put my crosshairs on their chest the same way I do someone with normal ping and I go boom and it doesn't have any hit registration no matter how many times I shoot, it's not me. I could understand it could be a poor aim problem or suppression problem if it was with an SKS or a pistol, but when I line up a shot with an M40A5 or SV98 and it goes through them, that's not on me.

They have high pings because they have 0 clue how to use the filter system in Battlefield or they just like to piss off people with there high pings and get lag kills.

I am one of those people. It's not my fault I don't live near the server... :(

It also is possible that no good servers are near them, not every has high ping just because they wan't to be dicks.
