New Laptop!

Hey guys,

So I recently won an award for an internship program I am in and it came with a good ole cash award. I am looking to purchase a new laptop for college, I use my desktop for gaming.

I'm wondering what you would all suggest. I'm looking for something relatively cheap, maybe ~$700 or less.

What I need:

Good Battery Life
Able to play movies
Have a CD drive (I do not have small enough hands to truly work a netbook)
Just an overall good laptop

What I do not need:

gaming laptop
video or photo editing


This laptop will generally be for writing papers, taking notes in class, and just screwing around with if I'm working and can sit at a desk.

Any suggestions will be welcome!

Here is a good laptop, the only downside is it does not have a CD drive. (it is a normal size laptop).

Any Laptop with an i5 processor should do you good. I recommend those with a 3rd Generation i5 that pack the Intel HD 4000 graphics, which is great for watching movies on.

Its just within your price range, has an i5 processor, 4GB of memory, and a 500GB hard drive (as well as a multi drive for your CDs and DVDs!). They claim it has a 7 hour battery life, but that all depends on what you do.

I would say go for a laptop with an i3 processor but I have 2 of those and they're pretty sluggish.
