Can't record on my MacBook with Audacity

Hi guys,

Whenever I want to record a set through Audacity, it's records through the microphone. I hook up an AUX-cable from my mixer to my MacBook Pro. Even though I change my Input/Output settings in the "Sound". Recording my sets never was a problem until I switched over to Mac. It's probably just me.

Hopefully somebody out there knows this problem, and knows a solution to it

Ya I actually did a lil bit of experimenting with this on my system because I tried recording a live dance show online thru my headset & the sound ended up being horrible. So I tried another way & now it bypasses my headset & is able to record it correctly (w/ no signal or quality loss).

If I understand correctly, for Line In (or whatever you have set for the microphone), it needs to be Mixer, but I could be wrong. If you can give me by Friday, then ill def look into it further since I always record this dance show every Friday night. From there, ill update this thread with the specific channel you need to be in.

Now mind you that I dont have a mixer plugged into my desktop, but the software inputs are still the same.

Wow, Pillar. Thanks so much! I will patiently wait till Friday. I've blown up my speakers anyway so I can't really DJ. SIGH! Always happens to me lol.

Thank god! My speakers are still alive. I changed a preset in my iTunes to Dance. The bass got all messed up. I put it back to Manual and it works. So much win!:thumbup:

Ya, gotta watch out for the bass. You always need to tweak every knob only slightly. What I suggest is that if you're looking to test out some sound, then start with regular audio (depending upon your speakers) & once you have the desired peak of the audio, then add the bass. The bass sound is very unique in that if you're not very careful, it will begin to distort part of the speaker itself.

Moral of the story: never change the preset of your iTunes. Songs are made to be listened to them in a certain way, which is the way they released them. No adding nice stuff to it. Just leave it as it is

Ya I found out after I woke up this morning that the manager of my other job didnt need my help today, so I got yesterday & today off. Ugh, so freakin bored! Im more than likely gonna head to my moms place early today so I can get in a lil bit of gaming before I record the show. Ill post in advance what the preset is (just gotta remind myself).
