Changing Colors of Cars in Photoshop

I saw my friend in my Computer Applications class start messing around with changing colors of cars and looking at a tutorial [link=hyperlink url]http://digimods.co.uk/tutorials/tutorials.htm [/link]that he found on google

heres one of mine I've done so far I have another one at school I'll post it tomorrow

I messed this car up on the top I could not go back to it and fix it so here it is anyway

Technically these are all pretty flawed. You're forgetting things like the fact that the sky which (given that it's a clear day out, as is obvious in the reflections in the original picture) is blue, will add a blue hue to the top parts of the car in spite of the fact that the color of the car's paint may be red or green, and that things like clouds will still have a desaturated hue - more of a white (as opposed to just being shapes in the same color), and that the color of the car will also affect (vaguely) the color of the shadow, particularly the outer rim of it, where light brings out hues at the edge of the shadow on the pavement. (Though this one is a little harder to see in the original because it's gray.)

There's some other things, too, but those are just the ones that stick out to me. It's pretty easy to tell that it's photoshopped.

Edit: Sorry, I just realized this makes me sound like a party pooper. Obviously they're not "bad", it's good to learn new things, but there's a lot more than should be done with them if it's not supposed to look clear that it's a photoshop deal. Also, I'm used to painting things in photoshop from scratch so I'm used to having to know this sort of thing (or at least...attempting to know it.)

I tried to take in the surroundings like that in the car, but with the whole color change its just a pain and sense we are doing this for no reason what so ever, why try so hard?
