This may be a long post
SO, you are here that means you are thinking about recruiting.. I hope <3
Let's get started!
As most of you may know the CS division has a great group of recruiting coordinators who organize CS recruiting drives and You can join them every Tuesday in CS ventrilo room 1 at 8pm EST (1am GMT, 7pm CST)
At the recruiting drives you can win a game if you get 2 recruits from the start of the drive up until midnight EST on the Tuesday then you can win a game! BUT dont let this be your main goal (to win a game) recruiting is to help eGO grow bigger and bigger with good quality players who may become great admins along the way.
If you are on our servers looking out for a "worthy player" for you to recruit before you add them on steam or talk to them in the server asking them to join eGO the first few things I like to look at is to see if the player is;
1) Following the eGO rules.
2) Being friendly to all other players.
3) Being helpful or supportive of his teammate.
and finally
4) Would this player add something too eGO and be a valuable member.
If you decide that he/she is all or most of the above then I think we could agree that he/she is worthwhile trying to recruit
Then you can start learning more about them and interacting in the server with them.
Now that you've decided the recruit is right for us you need to make the recruit feel like eGO is right for them!
A great way to start is by adding them on steam (Recruiting does not need to be rushed you can add them a few hours or even a few days after you have started talking to them in our servers) Once you've done that the player may be thinking "Why has an eGO member added me?" but not want to message you, and since you added them it would be rude not to send a message, right?
An easy talking point to begin with could be something as simple as "Are you enjoying eGO servers" or "Hey, I've seen you have been playing on eGO, are you enjoying it?" anything you choose that can get a conversation going would be excellent.
Anything positive they have to say about eGO is a step in your favor to recruiting them since this means that they are having a good time and might be interested in joining.
Once you've got to know the recruit and feel that they are enjoying our servers you can then simply say something like "Would you like to take a look at our forums" you can explain that it's a great way to meet other eGO members and that they can view what goes on in eGO outside of the servers.
This would be a great way for them to see what eGO is really like not just some servers to play on but we are a family! (Awww how cute)
Now that I've linked them to the forums I have had some recruits in the past simply message me back and be like "I've made an account, how can I join?" or they ask how can they join then you can help them step by step to join and become one of us! (Remember once you've got them to want to join it is not over! Help them register, verify and apply, it is a great way to show that we care!)
If the recruit didn't register or ask how off their own accord then you can simply say "Would you be interested in joining the eGO community" or anything like that.. The reason I would say community is because it makes use sound whole and just feels better in my opinion
If they say yes then great follow the next steps, but if they say no don't just delete them and discard them just simply acknowledge the fact they don't want to join at this time and say "Okay, thanks for your interest. If you need any help in the future just message me" this shows that you are not out like a cougar just hunting down recruits but you are there to care for everyone and help them if needed even if they don't want to join. If they remove you then that's fine and don't take offence.
Step1: Direct them to: http://edge-gamers.com/forums/register.php Since we are recruiting for CS ofcourse! Make sure you tell the player that their forum name and In-game name need to match exactly before they apply.
(After they have told you or you have seen that they have joined the site then remind them to go to their email and activate the account)
Step2: Guide them to: http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/maul.php?p=mygameids and then ask them if they see where it asks for their steam id.
(Once they have found it you can right click the players profile in steam and click "View Profile" once you have done that copy the url to their profile and paste it onto this website http://steamidfinder.com this will save alot of time making the user join a server and enabling / opening console etc) After they have submitted it you can go onto their profile on the forum and check yourself to see if the steam ID is in there.
Step3: Get them to go to http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/misc.php?do=form&fid=4 for the final step and tell them to fill out the questions and simply click submit.
(Remember, when recruiting the player keep them excited to join throughout the process of joining suchas on step 3 you can say "Finally the last step" just so they are not thinking "Is there anymore i have to do!")
Now that you've recruited a new member don't just forget and let them slide away into the wilderness of eGO alone! Help them along the golden path to become a great member and being good for eGO!
A great step to do this is to give them our ventrilo details and get them to join (If they want to, don't force them)
Our details are the following;
Host: voice.edge-gamers.com
Port: 29272
and they can download ventrilo at http://www.ventrilo.com/download.php
To help get them setup if they are new to ventrilo is to follow this guide http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/cmps_index.php?pageid=ventrilo
Another way to get the new e more involved is to tell them more about our events such as when they are and what we do in them you can also direct them to the calender on our main page: http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/calendar.php just remember the calender is in their own timezone so if they are from gmt and you are in the est timezone some of eGO's night events will be early morning the next day on their calender.
Ps: Please make sure to invite them to our CS steam group http://steamcommunity.com/groups/egocs to be updated on events!
Just remember recruiting them is the 1st step! Now make them enjoy it!
"What motivates you to recruit?"
This is an interesting question because of course eGO offers some motivation such as games and awards for us to recruit but we cannot let that be the soul purpose that we recruit we need to have our own reasons on why we recruit or what is making us want to recruit!
For my motivation I sometimes set myself a goal like 5 or 10 in a week and so forth another good way is to have a friend who also feels like recruiting and have a competition on who can get the most recruits or not just that maybe who can get the most recruits AND get them into ventrilo!?!? You can make recruiting fun and rewarding in a mental way
Just remember go for quality not quantity <3 You can also think of it like beating those baddy TF2 and DOD divisions
Thank you for reading now go out there and recruit like a badass!
REMEMBER IF YOU GET RECRUITING YOU MAY GET ONE OF THESE;(or all of them if you're cool)
and I would love to see someone with this:
Also just adding in what MGR just said which is a really good and valid point!

The right recruit?
If you are on our servers looking out for a "worthy player" for you to recruit before you add them on steam or talk to them in the server asking them to join eGO the first few things I like to look at is to see if the player is;

Steps to recruiting the player
Now that you've decided the recruit is right for us you need to make the recruit feel like eGO is right for them!

Registering to eGO
Now then if they say yes to joining you should help them every step of the way and it will make the recruit feel comfortable joining and not stupid if they cant find out how to join;Step1: Direct them to: http://edge-gamers.com/forums/register.php Since we are recruiting for CS ofcourse! Make sure you tell the player that their forum name and In-game name need to match exactly before they apply.
(After they have told you or you have seen that they have joined the site then remind them to go to their email and activate the account)
