Either way 10 is a nice round number, and after 10 matches it gauges your skill (somewhat but not really) so you aren't getting ripped apart.

I come from a long line of competitive gaming (cal-i cod, cal-i cod4, cal-m CS 1.6, cevo-i tf2). The credentials are there, but playing with people who don't know how to buy and dropping 30+ frags with an awp is frustrating.
