Game Randomly Minimizes and will not come back up....

So it happens in a few spots.. It did it in my last install of Vista Ultimate. Now doees it in Windows Xp Pro , fresh install.

I load up steam, TF2 starts... As the Valve head logo opens, sometimes it'll just minimize. I can ALT+Tab it back , but it never comes back on screen. I do hear skipping noises of the sound track.

Other times, its after I already find a server, and am waiting the last few seconds to join in. Boom it minimizes.

The only way to recover, is to CTRL+ALT+Delete and force TF2 to close.

All drivers are updated, as well as firmware/bios.

Evga dual Ethernet hookup to a router
Asus DVD player
Intel 6750
Creatives XF-i xtreme gamer

Not many progs installed, just AVG virus scan, ARES Torrent/download, Clone CD, Pidgin, Firefox, Creative console, etc...

I can't even ALT+TAB in the game, othewrise it wont come back up again.

Any ideas?

no other games loaded or proggies.

This happens to me sometimes, press the windows key between control and alt a few times then reload it up. That's what I do and it typically works like a charm.

Might want to try running it in windowed mode.

Happens to me occassionally, i would do what thor said push the windows button and the ALT+TAB button that works well.

This happened to me a few times with Portal and once with TF2. After an update though, it stopped. I also changed vertical sync to be on when I get the update that fixed it, so that might be part of the issue. I know the vertical sync being off is what would cause the music to skip. It's worth a shot.

This only happens to me when i load up TF2 and have the Steam window open. TF2 and Steam keep switching, every second..... The only way i can stop this is by ALT TABing, and closing Steam :/

Tried the Vertical sync being on. Haven't had the problem.

Haven't tried Alt+Tab yet either.
