SLI for BF4

To start things off - I don't want to hear about people saying that SLI is a bad way to go and that I shouldn't do it. If you're going to tell me that you wouldn't do it and that you think I shouldn't then please don't post.



Alright, So I plan on purchasing a 650Ti and a new Power supply for my computer.

And I currently have a 560Ti installed into my motherboard.

Anyways. I just want to know if I can run SLI between the two GPU's.

Some simple yes or no's with a little explanation would help me. Thanks.

Haha yeah. With the 770's, titans, and the new AMD R9's being released - The deals are stacking up and soon there will be some great black friday deals.
 
Yes, you can run them in SLI. The catch is that the clock speeds for them will be only at the fastest the slowest card can run. So the faster card will actually slow down to match it. It doesn't hurt that you're using ASUS for both cards, which can theoretically help with optimization and performance.

Thanks. Regardless of the other card being slowed down I would not mind that as I know Asus has GPU Tweak and I can always use MSI Afterburner and both of those cards are already OC'd from the stock clocks. Spreading the stress of BF4 to 2 different cards should help and hopefully I can run it on ultra settings. I just purchased an SSD to install my OS and BF4 onto so lets hope it helps.

I really want to be able to run this game on ultra. My budget is literally 300$ and I need to purchase a new PSU with it. If I can run an SLI and run ultra on Bf4 that would be FANTASTIC. (With steady 60+ fps.)

From what I understand from Snipeye's comment is going to behave similar to 560ti. I would imagine its performance should be equivalent to 2x 560ti. Furthmore, I believe vram doesn't stack up...correct me if Im wrong.

No, The VRAM does not stack. But what I am curious about is if I will even be able to play the game on ultra settings with a 1680x1050 monitor.

That shows the performance is actually lower than my current 560Ti but I am really hesitant as I am purchasing these tomorrow.

Most I could spend is 300-350 AT MOST. No more but if I can get a second card that can fully max out BF4 I would be ecstatic.

I have 1866 Corsair 4gigs of ram and an AMD Phenom II X4 955. It still shows my computer has a low score of 7.3 on windows rating but I really would love to be able to max out this game. The looks of it are astonishing. (I am not planning on doing anything other than playing BF4, League of legends, WoW, and a few steam games.)

In BF3 I was able to get 50-30 FPS on ultra settings with my current monitor but it would stutter sometimes. Ran great with a steady 60 FPS on high though.
 
Anyone help me out? I am going tomorrow to the store to pick up a new GPU and Power supply so if anyone can help tonight/now that would be GREAT!

Edit: I think I might just go ahead and pick me up an MSI 7970 3gb. Since I cant make up my mind and after reading some benchmarks of tested GPU's on tomshardware they said the 7970 could get 40-50 steady FPS on ultra. High settings is good enough for me.

You said your budget is $300, if you can save few extra dollars you can get gtx 770. Nvdia apparently is dropping gtx 770 to 330. Why you ask? Well you can futureproof you build and not to mention you get 3 FREE GAMES and you get use nvdia's shadowplay technology which looks promising.

Earlier on 7970 has basically identically performance of gtx 770 but cheaper, but now since gtx 770 prices have dropped I would highly recommend getting gtx 770.

It's a 500w cheap corsair psu that is giving out funny voltages. It needs to be replaced with a 650w psu
 
Yeah I can get a 650 watt psu for 50 from frys electronics. So I think I am sticking with 350 as a maximum budget.
 
Okay, I am not sure if this has already been said cuz i couldnt be bothered to read other comments but I think if you have a 560 and a 650 you can run SLI between them but I think the 650 will just be bottlenecked by the 560 and be like 2x worse than normal?

Correct me if im wrong but thats what I think would happen :P

Eh. I just ended up picking up an asus GTX 760 OC 2g edition. Saved me some cash and from what I was shown and from other readings, I decided on it since they did not have a 7970 under 350$ at the local frys.

Picked up a Corsair CX750 while I was at it. Not quite what I wanted but it gave me the extra wattage and sadly the only modular PSU they had was 180$... And they dont carry seasonic (shame on you, frys electronics. )
