November. In my neck of the woods, during this month we set aside one day to express our thanks for the harvest, for the fruits of our labors, and other things for which we are grateful. So, if I may, be grateful for EdgeGamers. It is a source of fun, online friends, and a place to be without the negative influences that seem to wait for us around each corner. EdgeGamers is a place to draw strength from gamers who feel that dignity and respect are not to be set aside for a cheap shot. So, come and join the newsletter team as we guide you into the nooks and crannies of eGO.

A special thank you to Ric who did more than half of our articles this month. If you have a flair for the written word and have reached the lofty rank of eGO, you can help take some of the load off of Ric. Send a pm to Quaffer or wewo. We will be interviewing potential reporters and editors. Fair warning, we do not accept everyone.

This months newsletter was edited by Ezekiel, PBJ, RogueOps and wewo. Please thank them for their efforts.

Our graphics this month are provided by Ichor who dragged himself from his sick bed to complete them in time.

We here at EdgeGamers Organization would like to thank the kind people at MaxFrag.net for providing us with our highly ranked, 400 slot Ventrilo server. For everyone interested in finding out more about them, visit their site at this link: http://tinyurl.com/4yqoyq8

Christy, come in. Hello? Christy? Are you here? *Knock knock* HEEEELLLLLOOOOOOOOO?! Christy, I've got some questions for you, ol' buddy.

Oh, *ahem* hi. This month's meet the leadership article will be focused on Christy and his awesome work within eGO.

Q: What exactly is it that you do as a Divisional Leader and a Tech Team hybrid monster?

A: It seems I have become more Tech than DL for our Division. When I am on, there are always plugins to be updated, servers to be updated. I'm glad we have MGR (MachineGunRush) to deal more with our day to day stuff.

Q: Since you've made your arrival on the Tech Team, how has your experience been? What do you like the most about it?

A:It has been awesome! Its nice getting to dive in to the servers first hand. I enjoy this a lot more than I did making Jail maps.

Q: How long have you been a Divisional Leader in the CS Division?

A: It has been close to a year.

Q: What are some of your favorite experiences in eGO?

A: I started out making maps for our Jail server which was great. It was nice to change things up a bit from some of the other maps we had at the time. I loved being an EC and an EC Advisor as well; working with a great group made it fun to want to come on and play whenever I could. From there, running the Division and then working with the servers has made everything complete.

Q: What's your favorite color?

A: Black and blue.

Q: Would you take a slow walk with Ric on the beach during a sunset in Hawaii?

A:Hell yes! Caressing that beautiful hair while holding your hand and walking down the soft sandy beach would make me complete.

Q: What do you like most about the CS Division?

A: Our members! We have a ton of members who are actively participating from being an AT, EC, or a Recruiter. I have gotten so much input regarding changes I make to servers. Its nice to have members who care and want the division to prosper.

Q: What is your job in real life?

A: I'm your every day cable guy. I have done cable for years. I took a two year hiatus to do web design, but the company I worked for fell through, so I'm back to the cable business.

Q: We know you have kids, and we've been watching you for a while. When they're old enough, will you allow them to join eGO?

A: My son plays every once in awhile on Jail and the Minigames server. There is no other community I would want them to join.

Q: Anything else you would like to say to the newsletter readers?

A: Just actively participate in eGO. You can get promoted to higher positions and do more for the community than you think. Also, help by donating. I have donated for years and I will continue to do so. A little price to pay for such an outstanding community.

A few times during my tenure in the community I’ve been asked, "Why are you a part of a clan that separates members by rank?" Each time my answer was, "We don’t separate anyone.". While there’s a rank structure in place, it certainly doesn’t keep us from talking to one another. So why do we need it? Let’s explore the system.

Coming from a military background I can safely say that without structure and command any objective is lost. It takes leaders to drive forward ideas. In saying that though, it also takes members below the ranking officers to seize the objective. Without leaders a squad can’t function; without troops a general is useless. Both elements are needed to support one another for a desirable outcome to be achieved.

It’s the same with eGO’s chain of command. Divisions can’t function without the people below the Advisors. We all have our appointed roles in the community that are appropriate to our rank and standing within the community. Like anything in this world, stay in the same place for long enough while consistently excelling in a position and you’ll be rewarded. CEO’s didn’t get to the top by being average at what they do. They strove for greatness and stood out while doing so. They followed instructions and carried out what was asked of them and then some.

There’s a particular action used every day in the military world and outside it, for that matter; delegation, the act of passing orders down the line. If it’s shown us anything, it’s that things get done when authority is used correctly. Think of it this way, if we were all in charge how would we progress? This is where the importance of ranks comes into play. It may sound silly, but with ranks comes structure and with structure, progress follows. I’ve seen a few clans out there try and make it without a rank structure. While things may have been a bit more relaxed they weren't as successful as they had hoped. The majority of clans put a rank structure in place and try to pass it off as a democratic structure. The reality of the situation is that some of these clan leaders go crazy with power and before you know it, all they’ve achieved is a dictatorship. It’s a delicate balance that eGO has been able to get a hold of. But it wouldn’t be possible without everyone’s cooperation and understanding.

We’re all a part of this amazing community that has excelled into greatness because of the people we allow into our ranks. We’re mature gamers in a social pastime that has its fair share of trouble makers. We stand out from the rest thanks to our structure and forward way of thinking. We can all be proud to be a part of this community and the values it stands for. We have our rank structure and leaders, both past and present, to thank for what we have before us today. So just remember that although sometimes you might feel insignificant in a community as large as ours, you play a vital role in our success. It’s your clan too.

Although this has been a very brief explanation to such a broad topic, I hope it’s at least explained some of the fundamentals of why we use a rank structure and why it's important in our organization.

Carry On!

1, 2, 19, 20 members and counting. Can you believe it? It's the PSC division's hard work getting all these members fitted into the right divisions. From processing applications, to helping individuals out in the long haul, it's all about the PSC this month.

Did you know that we don't allow just anyone into our fine organization? Applicants must meet a certain criteria and the PSC division makes sure every applicant has met those requirements. Behind the scenes, PSC members use systems like DAPS for example - Dedicated Application Processing System to vet applicants.

Are you an eG or eGO who wants to help out and get noticed? Simply PM any PSC Advisor for an application into the PSC Division. If you are not sure if you want to join the Division you can also ask any PSC advisor what it's like to be a dedicated application processor.

Thank you for taking your time to read this month's PSC article, we hope it has served you well.

If you put this thing in that thing, and that thing right here, and press the blue but--Oh hey! It's you guys. Whoops, sorry about that. We were busy building the brand new eGO time machine specifically for the CS division. You must be here wondering what has happened in the CS division, so let's get to work.

Machinegunrush was promoted to Division Leader for his outstanding work in the CS division and _mega and nmsniper were promoted to Advisors for Event Coordinators. We wish all three of them a wonderful future and we're sure they will make us all proud.

Have you been attending CS events? If not, it's a good way to win some free stuff like prizes, games, Steam cards, and more. Make sure you attend them, it's free, and you can't beat free with a dollar bill.

CS Leadership has been more and more active in public Ventrilo channels, please stop by and talk to us. This is a good way to become familiar with all the great guys and gals on the team.

With all that said, as always, the Newsletter team thanks you for reading this month's CS article and encourages you to be awesome in all that you do.

Come one, come all, to the World War II perspective of gaming and try your hand at Day of Defeat: Source. This is the game that gave eGO its start as a community and has lead up to the popularity and notoriety it possesses today. The DOD Division has had some interesting occurrences in the past month and we’d like to bring you up to speed on what exactly happened.

The Dirty Dozen isn't just a novel made into a famous WWII movie any longer. Nor is it the carton of eggs left in the back of the refrigerator too long. It is a new DOD event held on Sunday evenings (time varies). No ex-cons are involved, but it is intense. The idea is to give members of all skill levels a taste of what competitive play is like. The first twelve members in the proper Vent channel are divided up into two teams of six who play a match in the eGO match server using competitive rules. If you want to test your teamwork and shooting skills, become one of the Dirty Dozen.

The DoD division recently held a recruiting contest with some awesome prizes. The prizes weren’t the only thing awesome about this contest though, there were several participants and all of them helped out the division greatly with their efforts. Speaking of recruiting, new recruiters are always welcome. Interested? Check out the division discussion forums for more information.

Transitioning over to updates, the Anzio server has received a small yet pretty noticeable update. As announced mid-October, friendly fire has been disabled on the server. If you haven’t tried it already, you should definitely hop on and have some fun with your friends. Now your stats won't be affected by those pesky team kills.

Oh one last thing. If you missed the Clan-Wide meeting you may not have heard Megs-A_Tagger announce that Realism Campaign X is expected to begin at the end of November. Look for a sign-up thread in the near future. That’s about it for Day of Defeat this month. Annnd we’re out.

Do you smell that sweat-drenched aroma of manliness? That's the players in Minecraft endlessly building awesome things. You don't know what I'm talking about? Keep reading this article and you'll find out.

Cyprias works hard to keep the Minecraft server up to date, free from lag, and more. If you play on our Minecraft server, make sure you stop by in Vent to thank him for his everlasting work.

Minecraft has an economy forum where you can trade your stuff for even better stuff. Check it out, you won't be disappointed. Remember, one person's junk is another person's treasure.

Have you wanted to play on our Minecraft server but weren't sure what you could build? Fear not friends, just take a look at the pictures below. If you dream it, you can build it in eGO's Minecraft server.
