i have a gtx titan so video card really isnt a problem is it worth getting a 2560x1440 at 600 with lower fps or just a 27 in 1080p at 300 cant make up mind

I faced that dilemma this summer. I went with the 1080p, and I don't regret it. If you have tons of cash to throw around obviously the 1440 is going to be better. I just don't see the cost/reward benefit being there for those resolutions yet. I actually had the 1440 ordered up, and went in and canceled to order the 1080. YMMV

thats what i was thinking why should i pay more and suffer from alot of fps loss when 1080 still looks great
If you're dead set on spending the money, I think a better argument could be made for upping your refresh to 120mhz than upping your resolution. I opted to go with a 60mhz, but thought long and hard about the 120mhz. If you're consistently getting higher fps, which with your gpu you should be, then you might benefit from a higher refresh rate. I'm sure somebody else here could make that argument better than I can. I just decided I'd rather spend the $300 on more games.

You spent the money on a Titan so why not put it to use , 2560X1440 shouldn't work that card at all . As for frame rates anything above 50 fpm is really un noticeable even above 30 fps the human eye can hardly detect (proven time and again ) I personally would be looking for an ips screen in the 27 to 30' size for that card and enjoy it

It's a bit more complicated than you suggest. The Air Force has done tests where they put a pilot in a dark room and flash an image of a plane on a wall. They were testing to see how fast that flash can be and still have that pilot see it. They determined that pilots were able to consistently see the image at 1/220th of a second and identify the plane by the afterimage. Nobody is contesting that. It's a question of which he should buy and what our suggestions are. 1440p is better than 1080p. But how much better? Would you rather buy a 1440p monitor and play TF2 exclusively because you spent all your money on a monitor, or would you rather buy the 1080p monitor and have enough money left for Battlefield 4, Call of Duty Ghosts, Assassin's Creed IV, ArmA 3 and Batman Arkham Origins with money left to spare? If you already have all the games you desire, how about getting two 1080p monitors? Having 2 monitors is obviously better than one.
That's why I suggested the 1080p. 1440p is better, but not better enough to justify the cost in my opinion.

Excellent link Skortch , I was really only trying to not get too techy . There is too much emphasis put on frame rates alone . the quality of the monitor and vid card ,as well as your other components (ram ,Proc etc ) all contribute to video quality. I was assuming that because he bought a Titan that the rest of his rig is up to snuf as well , that's why I was suggesting a higher end monitor so he can exercise that card a little . I have 2 water cooled Titans in my new rig that will be matched up with 3 Dell U2413's in the next couple of weeks
Some day I'll be right there with you. I just wanted to offer the counterpoint to the obvious answer everybody would be giving. Asking a gaming community whether you should spring for the better monitor is like asking a pack of wolves if they want lamb for dinner. I have a much more limited budget than you seem to, and the fact that he was asking which to get made me think he was probably in the same boat. For now I'll just read about rigs like yours and be jealous.

This is my so called once in a lifetime dream build , The titans were the baddest boys on the block 3 months ago when I bought them . my build is Red Dragon ,I have pics in here of some of my work on it to date and will post some more this week. Now we really shouldn't hijack Toungizzle's thread
My main point of his querry was that his titan REALLY REALLY needs a good at least 27" monitor otherwise its a waste of a $1000.00 card

Will running a first gen I7 hurt me with the 1440 i have a 960 and 12 gigs ram

If its the 900 series I7 I would say you will be just fine. A 960 has a lot of horsepower

just worried i got bf running max with 1080 and i get 45-120 frames and i know 1440 is gonna lower that is there any readon for that big of a jump in frames with my titan at 1080

Just bought a qnix qx2710 half the price of any other 1440p and can overclock to 120hz just some issues but could be fine and or fix for half the price figured mines well plus one year warranty just have to ship to South Korea but it's free
