Hi so with the edition of the competitive tutorials I thought I would make a basic thread as well for those that are unable to make the tutorials.
So first thing I'm going to go over is working on your aim, if you are unable to aim you won't be able to get kills, and if you can't get kills, you can't get the moniez.
Aim
Working on your aim is very simple, simply join a DM server that is headshots only such as the Netcode Headshots only server for CSGO. While in Death Match work on 3-4 bursts with the AK only aiming at the head, do not spray. Spraying can be helpful at times but you will be able to kill people faster if you can simply flick to their head and 1 ak them.
Death matching for 30 minutes to 1 hour per day will increase your aim greatly, after about a week you will see a large increase in your shots that you are hitting.
You can also hold a corner while death matching or a certain are, this will help you learn different angles to peek and you will even gain a little game sense.
Nades
Next thing to work on is nade usage, using nades in CS is very important.. but utilizing them correctly is even more important. Knowing when to use nades can be the different between winning the round and losing.
Ideally you want to have at least a flash when retaking a site, so knowing when to toss your grenades will be useful. You don't want to be randomly tossing flashes into areas and then not pushing in. For instance tossing a flash over into B on inferno and then not pushing in only tells the players in b where you are, and you are down a flash.
Using smokes is also ideal for a retake, smoking off an area allows you to push into a site with out having to worry about getting shot from the side. When setting up on CT you also want to time your smokes depending on where you are so that you are not out of smokes at a site at 1:30. Throwing a smoke mid on b for instance on inferno at 1:30 shaves off time for them to take site, and if they do take site you will have the drop on them as they come out of the smoke.
Crosshair Placement
Crosshair placement is very basic, yet so many people have horrid crosshair placement. You wan to have your crosshair where the person will be, and where you know that you will be able to react to if they come around the corner. Work on this while death matching. This will make it so that you are able to get to the persons body quicker, therefore getting the frag.
Here is an example that I had saved from awhile back:
Someone was in CT spawn I believe and this player was waiting tree on inferno for someone to come, his crosshair is where the head will be when he comes around the corner increasing the probability of getting the frag.
Shift walking
Knowing went to shift walk and when not to shift walk will make a great difference in your game play, you don't want to have thunder feet while trying to creep around to catch a player off guard.
With that being said, if you are retaking a site up until a certain point you want to run until you get into a good position (bomb time allowing) then you will want to creep around so that the other player won't be able to tell that you are creeping up to his spot to frag him.
Other things you can do to get better
1. Attending comp tutorials
2. Doing everything that I have said in this guide
3. Watching scrims in anything above main for ESEA or commentaries of ESESA/LANS such as DreamHack or EWSC if you can find one in English (Lol)
4. Watching streams of players such as Shaeffer if you want to work on game sense or DaZed if you want to see great game sense and aim.
5. Playing a lot, you aren't going to get better if you don't play a lot. I have 900 hours in CSGO and 2k in source, just as an example. (Most competitive players have a lot more)
6. Getting ESEA, you will play with players that are much better, therefore you will get better.
7. Getting netcode premium, you will get great guides on sprays, commentaries, tips, and many other things.
8. Getting a good config, configs allow you to get better registry and many other things.
9. Good peripherals (Mouse, mouse pad, Headset) I would recommend Razer/Steel Series
Hope you all enjoyed the guide, I didn't want to make it too long. Hope to see you all at the comp team tutorials!
