Last year, we became good friends with an American exchange student who lived with a few of my current housemates while in halls. Being a typical yank, and showing how amazing your hospitality is, cooked an entire thanksgiving meal for us! Sadly, she is now back in the states this year, but instead of us missing out, she egged us on to continue the tradition this year.

(Just a quick note, instead of turkey we bought two chickens instead. Being poor students, we were unable to afford a fresh turkey large enough for 9, yet the shops didn't have any frozen turkeys available)

First off, we received the parcel all the way from Oregon. Filled with many brands we have never heard of before. (Though the JD had already been opened a few hours beforehand....)

Second came the BBQ'ing and smoking of one of the chickens. Granted it being bloody freezing outside, and the entire wood pile being soaked, we got it going:

The final product was defiantly worthwhile! (second chicken was still in the oven at this point)

This was completely enjoyed by all as well!

The final meal included garlic mash, roasted carrots and parsnips, green beans, stuffing, broccoli, cranberry sauce and gravy. Desert was a brilliant pumpkin pie.
With the total cost between 9 of us, coming to ?3.72 each.

A great tradition you 'Mericans have. Shame it's not common place here in the UK.

Well, Happy Thanksgiving from across the pond. I have to say, I never had a kitchen anywhere near that nice when I was in school. You Brits know how to do it right.
