Ok. So we all know once you get a recruit, it can be very hard to guide them through the process of applying. Hopefully this guide will be able to help.

Congratulations on getting a recruit! But it will not be official until they apply and are accepted on our website. I have included a list of step by step instructions that you can simply copy paste to your recruit. The instructions for recruits will be in red and the instructions for recruiters in blue. Troubleshooting is in normal text color.

First go to www.edge-gamers.com and click on register now in the upper left hand corner. Your forum name and in game name must be the same. Let me know once you have made your account and confirmed your email address.

If their name does not exactly match their in game name they must fill out a name change request here. You may want to ask them not to use any clan tags in their forum name and to remove the extra clan tags until they are accepted into eGO. You are allowed to multi-clan but PSC seems to have issues with the in-game name not exactly matching the forum name. Just tell them to remove the tags and once they are accepted they can put them back on. Name chance requests must be approved by council. It can take a few days. If you want to speed up the process, politely ask lungbuster to help you out. Be sure to thank him and tell him he is the best council ever! (It really does help.)

Once your recruit tells you they have finished, check the shoutbox to see if they have joined. The welcome message will not appear until they have successfully created their account. While you are waiting, copy and paste their steam community page URL into http://steamidfinder.com/ to get their steamid.

Now go to www.edge-gamers.com/forums/maul.php?p=mygameids and enter your steamid in the box.
Your steamid is ______________. Let me know when this is done.

Click on the link to their profile you found in the shout box. When they say they have entered in their steamid, check to make sure the box on their profile has a steamid in it and says unverified. If not, they have not entered in their steamid.

Now join any eGO server to verify your steamid.

Refresh their profile until the red unverified turns into a green verified.

If it does not verify double check that the steamid is correctly entered in the box. Sometimes recruits leave off the STEAM_ or are missing numbers. Also make sure they are in an eGO server. Wait 5 minutes at the most.

After that double check their steamid by typing "status" in console. Very rarely the steamid converters mess up.

If all else fails, contact me or a member of PSC leadership. They likely use a proxy to mask their IP or they are in a country that proxies all IP addresses.

Awesome! Time for the last step. Now go to http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/misc.php?do=form&fid=4 and fill out the questions. You were brought to eGO by Day of Defeat: Source and recommended by me.

When they say they are done, check the PSC forum http://www.edge-gamers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=636 for their application. Read over it. If parts are incorrect, simply have them edit the post. Refresh the application and let them know when they are accepted.

Congratulations! Now go to your friends list and click on the arrow next to your name. Select change profile name and add =(e)= to the front of your name.

Once they complete this last step, you are done.

Cheers!

Cool thread, but it'd be a good idea to link them to the rules first, rather than the application form directly.

If you do this, you then have to tell them to click continue and click on the source application. I find the less clicking and the less webpages the applicant has to click on, the quicker the application goes. Not only that but they also get less confused. That is also why I give them the maul link, rather than telling them to click on the maul button and then my game ids. It is much simpler and therefore less easy to screw up.
