Any tips for demo?

Demo is slowly becoming my favorite class to play as, but I never feel like I'm really good at it. I know he stinks at close range, but are there any other tips?

Demo is great in all kinds of ways. You cant say he stinks at close range because if your good at pipes and predicting movements he could be really dangerous at close range. Work on stickies for the most part because thats usually easiest for most people to get better at. Use traps fairly often and try to be unpredictable when you play against people. Most demos are just spammers but if you play it right you can be super dangerous and never die.

From my times of glory (about a year ago) i suggest you to used Loch'n'Load, always aim to where the enemy is going and you will hit them directly, if you know how to use it the Loch is one of the most OP weps.

Practice that and you will sure make someone rage.

EDIT: What wilson said too. Always trust what the beach ball says, he hasn't changed his avatar in more than a year.

Find an awesome medic like myself and let the crit stickies fly. Wilson uses that method.

Demo's bad at close range? Blasphemy! Use the pan and you'll be invincible.

Honestly, only use stickies for traps and reaaaally good pyros. Use pipes for everything else. Stickies are slow when you need to dish out damage really fast and get away, and it gives you carpal tunnel. Lay a stickytrap on a point and learn how to predict and use the pipe launcher for everything else.

You just have to learn to lead the Grenade Launcher to hit enemies. I think the only way is through practice. I like to fire three rounds at a time so I have one in reserve in case something surprises me, but others might prefer unloading all four rounds. Remember that after fired the pipes linger on the ground for a few seconds before exploding... so they're great for blocking hallways/corridors/areas. Pipes bounce around corners too, so sometimes they're a great way to lead with some damage before going in for the kill with Stickies.

I'm not so sure I agree about the Loch-N-Load being OP. You lose a lot when equipping that thing: your clip size is cut in half and pipes don't linger and cause area damage because they break on contact with the ground or walls. I think if you equip the Loch you're significantly limiting your damage output and area denial ability in favor of a few more deathmatch kills. And that completely ignores losing the ability to bounce pipes around corners, which is just so important for the Demoman.

As for the Sticky Launcher... left-click, right-click, left-click, right-click... and so on. You need to be airblasting those things a lot. Some people use it as purely a trap weapon but I prefer it as a way to deal a ton of area damage over a short period of time. I know it feels "slow" sometimes, but if you're arcing Stickies from that juicy mid-range sweet spot, especially with other classes near you soaking incoming damage, you can wipe out entire teams. Oh, and don't forget that holding the first button charges the Sticky Launcher so you can fire a single Sticky for a super-long distance. With some aim, you'll nab a few more kills and destroy a few more buildings.

Finally, and I say this as someone who plays as a Medic most of the time, you're killing your Medic when not carrying the Stock Launchers. Not physically, but he's still dying inside nevertheless, slowly and painfully.

I totally disagree with this. A Demo should be using pipes and stickies contextually. If you can aim stickies reasonably well, you can either block opponents from moving in certain directions, or kill them if they refuse to change course. And they're not that slow (though I suppose that is subjective). I actually think, if anything, a Demo should be leaning more heavily on sticky use than pipe use. But really, a Demo should be flipping between each of those weapons depending on what he is trying to do at any given time.

Quick tip: Don't play as Demo.

Why not?

Hmm....disregard my older post, I don't know how I do what I do, it comes naturally.

Basically, lrn2aim. That's it. Know your timing and prediction and you'll be good at any class. Except for pyro, cause pyro requires no skill.

I'll preface this with stating that I didn't read anyone else's post:

I always put sticking on doorways & on the objective. I'll use the sticky launcher that lets me hover over bombs to detonate individually (or general areas). This is convenient for having multiple traps set up.

Except for pyro..? What..? You just listed something for demo that you also need for pyro. Timing and prediction. W+M1 requires no skill. Please for the love of gawd, not say pyro is easy. Otherwise, I wouldn't be frustrated most of the time.

And only reason I say don't play demo because I hate going against them, t'was only a joke.

I guess we both missed the joke :/

Ah, humor over the internet. Ruiner of oh-so-many relationships.

I know, pyro's my second most played class and I play dodgeball a lot.

I didn't miss any joke, and I only see 100 hours on pyro unless you have reset. Also, dodgeball barely helps you in any experience for reflecting since it isn't a real game, it's not even a real player that is playing a mind game with you. I find Dodgeball to be a horrible way on practicing reflecting.

Well it sure helped me. For the basic timing of reflecting it's really useful. It's also fun.

And yes, 100 hours. That's my second most played. Sniper is first at 108.

Well, basic training, yes, but other than that, I don't really think it helps much in real play. I don't know, usually for me, if I wanna get better at certain things, I just do them.

And I'll stop talking since this is going off-topic.
