Any tips for demo?

Demoknight with anything, even the caber and you got yourself a winner.

One trick that Crappy_Guerilla taught me: always have a sticky charging.

It seems simple, but it means that you always have the range to hit somebody far away, and you can just let go of the trigger and detonate immediately.

I've never thought of that. Sounds good. But also sounds like it could be a waste of precious sticky ammo. :P

There's so much ammo in this game that it shouldn't matter. You should always be able to get more.

Tips for being good at any class:
1. Play hundreds of hours of said class
2. You'll eventually figure out way to become "good"
3. You are now "good"

Quick tip: Don't listen to Boo. He has fallen to the dark side. :)

But I would ask Sanctified Aberration. The man is not only the highest-ranked person on our servers, but he also happens to best at Demoman (in my experience, anyway. He's dommed me 44 times so far, and almost all those have been as playing everyone's favorite scotsman). From observing, I can tell that you should get a pocket. As a medic myself, I can't think of anything more fun than Kritzkreig Demo.

I'd say the best demoman on our servers is 2di4u. He doesn't come on the forums too often, but he's pos 11 and plays demoman exclusively.

Also, if you see b4nny as a demo, on the other team, leave the server.

I don't really agree that you'd a pocket because it seems to me that pockets help almost any class. So it's not a demo specific thing.
However, I do agree that Sanctified would be the best person to ask. He's very good at demo plus he's so nice that I'm sure he'd help you out!

D'aw that's nice Raz. <3

Wilson's advice was right on the money. Learn how to predict (and dictate) enemy movement with the sticky launcher. One thing I chose to do (and not everyone will agree with this) is when I was learning demo I chose to leave the 'nade launcher at home. This forced me to really get a feel for stickies and keeps the blind spamming to a minimum.

Alternatively you can use a targe or screen and focus primarily on pipe-aim. Don't demo-knight, any tom-fool can charge around and get kilt (looking at you Andy Guy :P !). I would just counsel you to get really good at one or the other. Both are very unique weapons and the learning curve is fairly steep for demo.

The secret to demo is to get a full strange named loadout. I myself have Codebreaker (grenade launcher) the walls of jericho (sticky launcher) and the lionsault (eyelander)

Once every kill levels up your favorite items, you will work so much harder to get said kills.

lol, this thread.

ok.

After playing lots more demo since my last post, here's a new tip.

Learn your pipes. Rdinator. That guy had serious pipes. If you can land pipes you can switch to Loch and be very, very untouchable. Try to rely on your pipes a lot while your stickies are down for a trap.

Use stickies on good pyros. Learn to airsticky, and keep your distance. Of course, really good pyros will know how to deal with stickies, airstickies, and reflect pipes. You're pretty much dead anyway, run.

A demo who can land his pipes and trap efficiently is boss.

Demo is great in all kinds of ways. You cant say he stinks at close range because if your good at pipes and predicting movements he could be really dangerous at close range. Work on stickies for the most part because thats usually easiest for most people to get better at. Use traps fairly often and try to be unpredictable when you play against people. Most demos are just spammers but if you play it right you can be super dangerous and never die.

This.
Don't be one of those demos that just spams stickies(I'm looking at you sanc >.>), master the grenade launcher and you become much scarier. My advise is to practice with the grenade launcher as much as possible using stickies only when you absolutely must(or not at all) or to set up traps until you're able to land a decent amount of direct hits. Placing traps on doors, corners, and objectives will almost always guarantee at least one kill. Spam nades into choke points and objectives to keep damage spreadout and consistent. Demo is also-arguably- one of the best sentry killers in the game.

Ah, yes. Sentries.

If you're ubered and running toward a sentry with the nade laucher, hit the sentry directly with pipes. If you don't have uber, use about 4-5 stickies, shooting from a place where neither the sentry nor the other team can see/get you. If you use enough the splash will get the sentry.

Do not, under most circumstances, spam m1+m2 stickies onto a sentry nest, unless there is a pyro that's really good at reflecting. If there is, change your trajectory a bit each time.

Loch....I haven't figured out the loch concerning sentries. I think two lochs kill any sentry.

Regarding minisentries: put all your practice into being pinpoint accurate with pipes to minisentries. One pipe will kill a mini. Make this your practicing priority, and minis will never bother you ever again.

if you can get into a good position with the loch-n-load, you can annihilate any sentry plus the engineer if he gets too close. it takes down all, non-wranglered sentries in two hits.
