Im looking into an Intel q6600 and people are complaining that they are getting b3 stepping instead of g0 stepping. What is the difference here? Any info would be much appreciated

"Stepping" more or less refers to a revision number of that processor's type. The higher the letter an number, the further that particular processor's archetechture has been refined. So a g0 compared to a b3 is much further along the line in design and testing.
What this usually means with processors is that the processor will run much cooler, have a longer lifespan, process more effeciently, and be far less prone to glitches.
Apparently, the heat difference between b3 and g0 on this particular processor is huge. This is especially useful if you're into overclocking, as there are reports of overclocking the thing from 2.4 GHz to 3.6 GHz with the stock cooler and remaining stable. I'll believe it when I see it, but that sounds amazing. I'd probably think it safer to stop around 3 GHz, and only if there was little or no sign of heating up signifigantly under load.

Any idea how to check what you've got? This is what i'm running... Mind you I've got this for a cooler..

I'm not sure what the b3 part number is. But the g0 ends with slacr. I was lucky and got one 
They both perform the same but the g0 runs a lot cooler. The only REAL issue with the b3 is temps when over clocking, you can get a bit more from a g0 just because it runs cooler. People are still getting some nice over clocks with the b3.
With the thermaltake V1 cooler mine runs about 25-28C with Oblivion at full settings. This HS is a good 6-7" tall so you'll have to be sure that i'll fit in your case. Here is the link: [link=hyperlink url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835106102 [/link]
