Star Citizen is an upcoming space trading and combat simulator video game for Microsoft Windows. Star Citizen will consist of two main elements: a persistent world massively multiplayer online game mixing elements of first person space combat and interstellar trade (known as Star Citizen) and a branching single-player and drop-in co-operative multiplayer campaign (known as Squadron 42), together with customizable private server components. The game will feature Oculus Rift support.

Both Star Citizen and Squadron 42 are set in a 30th-century Milky Way centered around the fictional UEE (United Empire of Earth), an analogue of the late Roman Empire. A central theme of the game is citizenship (or lack thereof) in the UEE, which must be earned through player actions (such as completing a period of military service). It is anticipated that Citizens will enjoy certain in-game benefits, for example paying a reduced tax rate or having easier access to interspecies trade, but the exact details are yet to be determined.

A strong focus will be placed on player interaction, with player behaviour influencing and being influenced by a dynamic economy system.
Star Citizen is currently being developed by Chris Roberts' Cloud Imperium Games, founded in 2011. Roberts' previous works include games such as Wing Commander, Privateer and Freelancer.

Ok I just want a rough count of how many people have pledged for Star Citizen. i am not looking to form any formal group or anything, that is up to Council, I would just like to know if there are any eGO Citizens in the "verse".

And here's my Baby for which I just pledged recently,

I'll probably pledge to land one of the ships, but I'm definitely interested in this game, even if I don't pledge. Been reading all the news coming out of the site since it was first unveiled.

Im the guy with RSI Constellation and Origin 325A Space Superiority Fighter.

So yea, still not sure if ill play the game, looks mediocre []

sounds..interesting, doubt I'll be able to hop on it anytime soon though(even when it does get released)

-after watching the trailers-
..I keep throwing money at my monitor but nothing is happening!!
Lol this game.. with occulus rift.. my gods..
Diff gonna keep an eye on this one.

As for the hardware requirements , Chris Roberts ( the man in charge ) has this game slotted for a late 2014 - early 2015 release date.

The plan is that by the time this game releases the hardware needed to run this game adequately will be available ( Nvidia 600-700/AMD R9 series ) at a lower cost.

Although to run it at "omg this is real" settings will probably take a generation or more, akin to Crysis 1, which is fitting since this is using the Crytek engine.

The game will have a Dog fighting module up and running within Jan-Feb which will be testing the Physics models and balance between space ships.

@ Ravkrat do you have the Occulus ??

no but I did read that they plan on adding compatibility with the occulus for this game

Oh yea, wanted to add one thing.

The trailer - thats not CG thats ingame graphics.

also the carrier in the trailer; they turned off 90% of its guns and slowed the bullets/lazers speed for the filming :D

Here is a link with a glimpse into their ship development pipeline.

Also you do not need to buy any of the ships. Purchasing any of the Single Ship Packages gives you access to the Dog Fighting Module --->Alpha---->Beta as well as some in game currency and 6 month free insurance for your ship. This game will be a one time purchase with everything available through ingame currency with microtransactions on the side for those wanting to cut corners.

@Crusty, that is true of every crowdfunded game but especially so of a project of this magnitude. But he has 4-5 offices open 3 in the U.S. and one in the U.K. as well as subcontracting to other firms across the world. He is literally going all or nothing, coders, graphic artists and the like with serious credentials under their belt are signing up for this because it's a challenge ! So I'd say theres a fair chance the game will come out but I think something will have to be sacrificed. It's difficult to make an MMO where all the the gameplay aspects are good.

Glad to see some eGO members into this...thought I was the only one.....I have been slowly amassing my armada as well with a Super Hornet, Cutlass, Avenger, Gladiator, Retaliator and Starfarer....LONG LIVE THE SPACE SIM!

HEY! I know you missed me and my textiles, but I will join you when the game comes out and make my textile empire HUGE! I've been reading and will join you when the game comes out! See you then Aardvark!

JoJo our terms remain, remember 60-40 split in our favour. But we aren't pirates anymore we're bounty hunters. But that just means we can twist the arm of the law and set you up if you decide to be greedy. Capiche !

And where the hell have you been ? How the hell does DoD still appeal to people ?

(bracing for impact)
