We've all thought about games that would be really cool to be able to play, but they just don't exist yet. Share some of your awesome ideas and concepts!
FORMAT:
Name: What is your game called?
Genre: Is it an RTS, FPS, a combination of roguelike and puzzle?
Story: Does your game have a story?
Gameplay: What would playing your game be like? Talk about the unique aspects of your idea, go over the potential for new ideas. You can even just go over what one of the levels would be like, if you feel so inclined.
Other: If there is something you didn't really have room for, here is the place to put it.
I'll go first. I've actually created a full design document for it just because I was bored one day, but it would be pretty neat.
Name: I got 99 problems (But one of them is a horrible giant monster) [working title]
Genre: The game would be a third/first person shooter, that has elements of RTS games, and an upgrade system similar to what you would find in a game like Civilization V.
Story: You are the mayor of a fine fine city. But one day, the metaphorical poopoo hits the metaphorical fan. I've thought of several different levels, but I will just use the original as an example. A rift to the underworld opens up in the middle of your city, unleashing a massive ~20 story demon, who starts destroying buildings, releasing smaller demons, and just generally being a jerk. Well, this isn't good for your city. You go underground and put on your battle suit which you have funded with money that was supposed to go to the community pool. I haven't thought of a name for the suit yet, but I'd like for it to be an anagram, with the word being something like "T.I.E.", or "S.U.I.T", something that a mayor would wear. Anyways, it's currently in the prototype state, so it can't do too terribly much. Sure, it has guns and rockets 'n the likes, but it lacks umph. Well, you need to use your power as mayor to rid the city of the horrible things that are destroying it!
Gameplay: Before I go in depth about the mechanics of the game, I am going to say this: The giant demon will create certain types of smaller, but still large enemies. These enemies, in turn, create their own smaller enemies. I hope that this hasn't gotten to confusing yet.
So, for instance, one of the enemies the main demon would create are flying hellbats or something. These are large and dangerous. Well, when given enough time, they will create imps, which will run around causing problems. The imps, being the terrible things they are, will generate hellbugs or something. When left unatended for long enough periods, the hellbugs can make piles that tower up higher than buildings, and function more like a liquid than individual units. Has anyone here played that tower defense flashgame called "Creeper World", where there was that purple liquid that just floods/destroys everything? They would function kinda similarly to that.
Anyways, if you want to kill the demon, you need to be able to deal with the things it creates, otherwise you're going to be quickly overwhelmed. That means you're going to have to start out small. Let's take the hellbugs, for instance. They pretty much get everywhere, and will overtake your entire city if given enough time. The flamethrower is going to be one of the first upgrades you get. It will make quick work of the hellbug piles. "But wait, there's imps all over the city creating hellbugs! Flamethrowers are cool, but you can't watch the entire city by yourself!" Ahah, glad you asked. Here is where the RTS elements come in. You can hire and train soldiers and give them weapons. They will certainly not be near as effective as you, because you have the power suit. They can, however, be posted to defend and attack. If you research enough, you can start to construct towers that will act sort of like the things in tower defense games. You will access the city menu from something on the wrists of your powersuit, and you can quickly see what's all going on throughout your city. Here is were you hire people, choose new research, and command your soldiers around. Be aware though, when you enter this menu, it doesn't pause the game. If you're doing things right, you will be checking that menu pretty much at every chance you get. Eventually you will climb the ranks of research until things like hellbugs and imps become a negligible problem, and all the way up until you can start doing noticeable damage to the final demon.

Like I said, I've created a whole design document on this game. I think that if some developer were willing to create this, it would be a pretty awesome game.
