Logitech G430 vs G35 or...

Allright, so now that I got a new PC time to get rid of my old Creative HS-900 headset and obtain something more up to date.

Things that I am looking for in a headset are:

• Surround sound (5.1 or 7.1, doesn't really matter which)
• Large ear cups that cover whole ear (otherwise after hours of gaming it gets painful)
• Built in or removable microphone
• USB connection
• Within a ~$120 price range
• Available in EU

So far I've only looked at Logitech and their surround headsets, mainly because they are the most available here. I've also looked at some Razer headsets, but those are way over-budget for me. Question here is, which headset would you recommend? I know that in theory G35 should be better than G430, but how much better and is it worth the additional cost? However, if you have an idea for some other headset than in the title feel free to tell about it. :thumbup1:

Although I can't really vouch for the G430 (I haven't really looked into them at all), I do love my G35's.

I can wear them for hours on end without even realizing they're on. I've found that the internal battery lasts quite a bit. It also has a nice feature that if I turn the mic up it will auto mute (not sure if the G430 has that).

I've been using Turtle Beach headsets for a few years now, and I have to say they're great for gaming. I'm packing a pair of X12s right now, but I hope to upgrade.

Check out their DPX21s, they're pretty gnarly headphones. 7.1 Surround sound, USB wired, amplified for that awesome bass, and they have pretty big cups as well! The only downside is they cost about $149 from their website (you can get them cheaper elsewhere no prob).

If you're strictly on a $120 budget, then I'd recommend the DX12s, they aren't true 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound; they're digital surround instead which is almost like a mock surround sound deal. But they do the job quite nicely and are still comfortable!

So I have the Logitech g930 (wireless headsets), I love the headset, sound is great, the Logitech Gaming Software is very helpful, the only drawback to these headsets, mine and the ones you have listed. Where the boom arm and mic meet, there is a crevasse where the parts meet and if youre not careful, the mic will break off. I have already went through 2 headsets because of this issue. I am currently looking for a new wireless headset brand. Just wanted to give you my take of these since the design on all the headsets are about the same.

SkullCandy has a line of gaming headsets which I have heard good reviews about. The PLYR-1 are the headset I might get next.

+1 on the G930.

now, I will also agree with Super.. I've broken several pairs. Never at the boom though. Mine always break where the ear "muffs" attach to the 'frame".

Cause of that, i always buy mine at "Best Buy", with their optional 2 year warranty. So about every 18 months, I go in and get a brand new pair.. and only have to pay for some additional warranty.

but, they are still the best I've personally used.

The G930's are great. Warranty service and customer service from logitech is personally the best I have ever encountered. Mine started having receiver and battery issues about a year out of warranty and they told me to send in my old pair and they would replace them, free of charge. 2 weeks later after sending the package I get a brand new one right off the factory line. I was quite happy.

The surround sound is basically a marketing gimmick. It does not truly have surround sound but instead uses a simulation of it using windows 7.

Great in-depth video. It opened my eyes alot and although the surround sound actually sounds great but you can get a much better quality headphone for cheaper and purchase a microphone for cheap that has great quality nowadays. Save some money and buy a pair of headphones with a really nice USB microphone.
