Cant view webpage from Home

Like title says, I cant view the webpage from my house (403 error). Internet works just fine, can open other sites, yatta yatta, restarted my computer and all that. also tried with IE, moz, and opera.

Ideas?

hmm...... Well i dont think anything is wrong just wait it out. I have a website up and it gives me a 403 error but after 1 hour it;ll go away.

What link do you have bookmarked?

A 403 error generally occurs when a good connection to the server is made, but your client doesn't have permissions for the resources you're attempting to access. There are parts of this page that can only be accessed by a registered member. If your bookmark is set to one of these and for whatever reason your login cookie was reset, this error would definitely result.

Try going to plain old http://edgegamers.org/ and see if it throws that error.

If it does? Blegh... try clearing all of your data. Cookies, cache, everything.

Still nothing. I tried with two other computers at my house also. I cleared all the cache and everything on them. I typed the address manually. I tried the link from the .us site (DoD site opens fine).

Any other ideas?

And you're getting a 403 error?

404, I'd think your local DNS had dropped the ball... but 403 means you connected fine.

Try a different browser. Firefox or Opera. If that doesn't do it? I'm fresh out of ideas.

Try going to 72.36.233.92 in your browser. Tell me if you get a 403 error there.

Tried Firefox and opera, and they dont even show the error.... they show nothing at all.

Ill try 72.36.233.92 when I get home.

Except 403 is denied permissions, not a failure to connect.

If that works, I'm going to be very very perplexed.

Right, I'm expecting that to not work. If it does though, then it could be a weird localized problem with a setting on the site and not even something local to the Doc's computer.

Firefox and Opera both run off of different scripting engines from IE don't they?

At what level do they share anything? Because that would be where I'd look for the problem since the site doesn't work in any of the browsers.

Yeah, they do run off different engines. Seeing that none of them work makes me think it is his ISP or his computer. Sometimes when people setup web servers they can tweak some setting that ends up allowing only IE but not others. It's all really weird and confusing at times. It may be an ISP level thing or something with his router/modem. Dr.Marvin, is there any way you can try it from another computer at your house? Maybe a laptop or something?

Agreed. If you can attempt to access the page from behind the same hub, but on a different machine we can at least narrow down the problem to your computer or not.

If you don't have another computer available...

Try using http://anonymizer.nntime.com/ to access the site.

Are you behind any kind of router? If so, what is it and are you running the standard firmware on it or third party? What kind of modem do you have and who is your ISP?
