After dying twice, I finally made it back to the NW Airfield.

Just wanted to share! I need an M4 by the way.

Best place to find an M4 is at the NW Air Force base, but I would keep spawning on different servers in the same area until I found one. NON-populated servers that is, haha.

yeah. i found a mosin, and a long range scope. so i'm using it as a sniper. problem is, i only have 3 bullets hahaha.

Maybe you can get them to all stand in a line, lol. I will search for ammo for you and hold it till I see you on again, no problem.

so what server are you guys playing on? I've only played it a handful of times since installing and still trying to get a handle on the controls etc.

Newbie question. Do I have to keep the game running or is there a way to save? I don't have 20 hours to play a game. I get the concept, but obviously this isn't something I can play an hour here and there and hope to get anywhere.

Hey Greazy.

Actually, On the contrary, this is a great game to just play here and there. You save by exiting the game. Doesn't matter what server you rejoin, you'll be placed at exactly the same place you left off with all the same equipment you possess.

With that said, make sure you leave the server at a "Safe" location. I learned this the hard way once when I thought i was safe in a shed, and when I rejoined, found myself mauled by zombies and died upon rejoining. Needless to say, I learned my lesson.

Also, we don't always play on one specific server nor do we all play on the same server.

I myself died and am still trying to get materials. So I look for a day server (not night) that has a low population of players on. This maximizes my chances of finding items I need and also minimizes the chances I will die from another player.

As for where to go in the server, I know its hard without a compass, but most of eGO folks are located around the NW airfield.

Here's a map: http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus

Basically what you have to do is run around a town till you find the name of the town on the street. Then go further until you come across one of the blue street signs with arrows that tell you which direction and how far the next towns are. Look on the map link above, locate yourself, and try to go from town to town, trying to get closer to the Northwest airfield.

Its easy to be turned around, so try to find a compass and backpack and an axe. Also, stock up on food and water.

Let me know if you need help!

Good to know. I didn't know that it saved my place. So basically I have to lock myself in a room and hope nobody or no thing finds me.

I did read some things about compasses and if how if you didn't have one, you can navigate based on the wind (it blows east). Something about the power lines leading to a certain city. And also something about the time of day and using the sun (which I use in real life when I used to hunt in the big north woods der hey).

What I do find annoying are the bands of guys running around using their mic trying to take control ofyou and then they kill you. But, such is the zombie apocalypse. I have yet to manage to find a water bottle, canteen, or non-rotten food. BUt I have found a backpack, ammo, various clothes, some drugs,

Search town for food and water. It is best to join a server where the doors are closed as they have potential to have supplies. If you find the door open, then it has most likely already been looted. Also look out for Wells and Ponds. You can drink from those.

This game seems really fun, hopefully I can get it sometime.

See, I'm an evil player. I close the doors behind me. LOL

I was in a stream once, but couldn't figure out how to take a drink.

Lol I do the same thing. I close the doors. As for drinking out of ponds, you have to be in firdt person view and looking down at the water. You can switch between third and first person view by pressing Enter on your NUM pad

I was with a party of 3 once on the Dayz Mod, I was leading us to the NW Airfield, there was a rumor that the planes there would kill you if you got in them, no one knew for sure. We went up there very carefully, and sure enough there were people waiting. One of us was shot but we bandaged him behind a building. We finally got to the planes, there about 4. I was the only one that could pilot a plane or helicopter. I got in and started it up. We were all in, soon enough we all were knocked out. Then out of the bushed 4 people came, my body looked like it was dead. It was pretty dramatic how my friends were executed but I sit there knocked out watching. I waited about 20 minutes, the bandits left by then, and my knockout was glitched, so i logged out. The next day I got on, found a friendly and got blood. I still had the car we used to get up there and they were glad when i told them that. The planes are still there today but the server is empty. Those were the good days on Dayz, the original vanilla friendly times. I suppose there are a couple friendlies still out there but not like there used to be. I have so many stories of the old dayz, incase you didn't know, the bambi in my name was meant for a bambi on dayz, which is what the new spawns were called.
