Let's talk Highschool and have a Thoughtful Discussion on it

I want your honest opinion and I want your feedback on what to do with it. Improvements, suggestions, concerns, issues etc...

Obviously something isn't working with highschool. It used to be one of the prides of the division, populated through the night from what I hear. And now its our lowest ranked server in CS:S

Leadership is ready to execute suggestions on highschool, server filling is ready to dedicate more players to it. But everyone wants to make sure the server is right before we make all of this effort, so it doesn't go all to waste. Because, frankly, past efforts were fruitless. Something needs to change.

I personally love highschool server, your fired panda.

The ranking system is not on there correctly is my only complaint. (ie type rank and it pops up in chat and not in the box like other servers)

It was more popular awhile back when more people played from eGO, ie spark used to be there all the time, MGR was there.

If I think up anything else I will be sure to edit this post or add another.

i meant like actual high-school. supposed to be funny but if you arent a humorous person its okay too

but honestly, i love the server. esp. the map. I just don't play it because its always empty. But im sure if u can get the server filling team in there it can get full very fast.

Its good to know we got another person on board if we can get players in! Its a struggle to get a population in there

I think that the reason highschool use to be full and use to fill it's self is because they were all regular players that liked the map and liked eGO... Now that most of these players have moved on for some reason or another I think that the players we have left either prefer to play a fuller server so have gone to other maps/servers.

We have to remember that highschool is our custom map, to get new players who are not in eGO to come play will be alot harder than Italy for example.
When people search to play CS they generally seek default maps (I believe so anyways)

Obviously one of the top ways to get people into Highschool would be for our eGO members to boost the rankings in the first place so that people can see us on their server listings and thats if they arn't searching for default maps.

We could try reaching out via our server messages that get sent out every couple of rounds or so into the dust2 server and maybe italy since we see most pubs there and say "Hey, come check out our highschool server! Click here to join (or type !servers to join or something like that?)

I personally only like playing on it when there is a ton of people on ot. Not trying to brag but when there is only 10 people on each team it's really easy and Boring after a while. We need to push on server filling nights. Written on my iPhone sorry for the grammar

Ok so I mostly read from everyone that the old players who used to fill high school no longer are around. We all have our favorite maps but lets face it, high school is hardly ever full and usually has less than 20 people on. I say we cut high school and get back to a rotation server with brand new maps made from eGO and at the end of a month of having the rotation up we pick which map gets the most vote.

From my observation CS is constantly struggling satisfying one of two servers. If HS is being filled, Jail suffers, if Jail is being filled, HS suffers. Its a constant struggle. I'd find away to solve this first. I know CS wanted to start a Fill Server Captain program and I can only advise as one of the TF2 captains, that if that person or group of people start to rally the troops you go and help or respectfully decline as opposed to having to struggle with being told "nooo go to {jail}, leadership will take it away" on global chat where your peers can see this. This starts a favoritism discussion battle over global and It makes it harder to achieve the goal of increasing the rankings and getting the servers filled.

Ideally, If you are filling, you'll get pubs to flock in to the servers in need of filling like HS and you now have Jail to concentrate on and have fun. Looking at GTTracker, it seems HS has mostly Afternoon activity, but not really to the point it fills and dies. I'm guessing people get bored so with that I would motion towards a Rotation Server as flamelauncher11 suggested previously in another thread, HS might be a good server to experiment this on and I truly believe that that server would benefit overall from it, for those that like HS it wouldn't be really gone, you could always mapvote for it.

Last suggestion, Offer incentives for being in the server. and filling it. I remember one of my first times Killroy gave away CS:GO goodies. I think even jail credits were given out at some point.

I think we should try filling both servers at once, but give the option for people on global chat to go to either one? I don't know, but I agree that when one gets filled, the other one dies.

It's sad to see that it's come to this with regards to highschool. Back when I was active with the CS:S division the highschool server was always bumpin. Me(Joker), Malenski, Jwinn, Darius, Ashley, Dino, TripleRec, most of the wtf. clan, most of the illegal clan and so many others that are slipping my mind at the moment(sorry lol) were on all day every day. We had many very skilled players always around. the Server was almost NEVER empty.. now there's rarely a time that I look at the server and there's actually people in it. It seems like everyone has moved on.. I'm not sure it has to do with the highschool map choices as I love the old and new versions alike. I commend the server filling efforts that some are doing right now to try and bring it back however when I pop on the server and see 6 people idling, well guess what.. there's still no one to play with so I leave lol.. There needs to be more of a will to actually hop on the server and play with pubs and members alike. Another thing I see is whenever someone says in global server admin chat to come fill the highschool server there are responses like "no", "highschool sucks".. When people say things like that it's detrimental to the success of filling the server. I would love to see highschool return to its former glory and I will try to hop on as often as I can to help it along.

might be time for a refresher on certain commands, I know things are done differently in every division each with its own characteristics and culture i guess... I'm even guilty here and there but I have to agree with the global thing and cant stress that enough.
