Hard Drive failure, need some input

I'm having some trouble guys and I need some input.

I recently put together a computer with a 1 TB HDD from Western Digital, a blue one. Last night, I got a pop up through Windows saying "Windows has detected a hard disk problem." I decided to run a disk check. After it finished, I tried booting up my computer and I got a message saying it wasn't able to boo up because of a recent change in either hardware or software, which lead me to believe it was the HDD.

I put in my Windows 7 install disk and tried doing a Windows repair, but that got me nowhere. My computer is currently off and the HDD is not inside, as I'm debating sending it to Western Digital for a new one since it's under warranty.

Here's my question: is it possible to save this hard drive and not send it to WD, or would it be too much of a hassle? How would I go about fixing it, or could Windows be the problem? I don't have anything really perishable on it. The drive itself is a little over 1 month old, so I don't know why it would just stop working.

Did you try deleting all partitions and reinstalling Windows? If that doesn't work just send it in.

Go through the process to install Windows and when it gets to a screen where it asks you if you want to perform a "Typical" or "Custom" installation, select Custom.

When you get to the screen with a list of hard drive partitions, select every item in the list and click the "Delete" button down below the list for each. It will ask you if you're sure- say you are. After you're done deleting everything there should only be 1 item in the list. Select this item to designate it as the disk where you wish to install Windows and continue the installation process. The only button that is under the list of drives that you should have to click is "Delete". There is no need to create a new partition; the wizard will do so for you if you don't.

Make sure you have NO drives connected except for the WD prior to completing this process, internal or external. This includes thumb drives. You will lose all the data on the WD drive after completing this process.

If you still cannot use Windows after this I would send the drive in.
 
I think I'm just going to ditch this one. It's stuck on "setup is starting", and has been for about 15 minutes now.
