Prestige levels.

Okay, not quite literally, they're Infamy levels. Now when you hit the level cap at 100, you can pay $200,000,000 to earn a prestige level point (which will go up to 14 when it's all finished, but capped at 5 right now) which can net you Infamous items (cosmetic only obviously). Each level will be represented by a card your character will be holding in game lobbies and apparently can even alter the music playing in said lobbies, as well as just making you look like a hardened gangster.

My favorite part? You can apparently go Reservoir Dogs style with black sunglasses at some point in the Infamy stuff. XD

Just be sure to spend all your money before going infamous. All spending cash is set to zero.

O_O. whyyy?

Because becoming a badass requires you to give up all your spending cash and skills, plus the 200 Mil for each level. Guessing Infamy is just another way of public protest by burning all your money. Reminds me of the kid on the playground that would break his own toy just to show people he could.

dang.

wait so spending cash is different than like money in my bank vault correct?

Well there is spending cash which is cash on hand, and also off shore cash which is what you use mostly to buy contracts with. It needs more uses tbh.. sitting on like 4 BIL right now before I stopped playing.

Well, I think that's what their trying to do with Infamy. The offshore cash is now a link to being able to level in Infamy every 100 levels. Unfortunately, since people can still hack the game there are already people that are Level 5 Infamy as of last night.

EDIT: Just played a game with a V-100 person claiming to have done it all in three days of straight playing. Achievements were all received in the span of 10 minutes. Herp super awesome there.

I'd wager a lot of those types are going to be banned shortly. There's no feasible way to get to I-5 in just a couple of days unless you quite literally played for every hour of those days, and even then I doubt it heavily.

Wager you could report them to Almir via email too, the Payday 2 forum on Steam had a deal as to how to do that. Reported one guy a while ago who was laying down dozens of sentries and flying in a Watchdogs game...
