Alright well I have tried for hours to get music on my iPhone and have done a ton of research. I have tried almost every solution there was on the Apple forums for my problem but nothing seems to work.

I recently downloaded songs onto my computer (Yes, it was legal, the artist gave the free download link). After downloading these songs I moved them to my "Music" Folder. After I tried dragging the songs into my Music section under my iPhone and it tries to sync for a couple of minutes and then the circle stops filling up near the song and the sync stops, leaving that song greyed out. I've had this problem with at least 10+ songs. Can anyone help me out here?

Screenshots:
Shows that the song is being copied over.

Circle doesn't get completed and greys out with dotted lines.

Please help me out!

Did you go into iTunes and hit file, then choose "add file", then choose your songs and click okay? Do so if you haven't. This will add the music to your iTunes library, which you can connect your iPhone and sync them straight from the library, instead of trying to transfer them to your phone via Windows Explorer on Windows or Finder on OSX

Found this on ASK.COM

I bought an iPhone 5 and could not add music to it. Same problem: grey songs. After hours searching forums and blogs I found this solution. Works for me! Now I manually add songs using iTunes and no problem. Hope it helps.

1. Download and install iExplorer http://www.macroplant.com/iexplorer/

2. Plug in device first, then open iExplorer

3. Delete the iPhone\Media\iTunes_Control folder (you may want to copy this, just in case)

4. Restart the iPhone / iPad

5. Start iTunes. Not restore iPhone from back up, select New iPhone (don't worry, you will not lost apps or data on your iPhone doing this)

6. Add music manually with iTunes

are they from the same artist or just random songs

Most are from the same artist but there are random ones.

Tried it but didn't work.

I will try this out and see if it works, will get back to you.

EDIT: Just tried this and now almost all of my songs grey out except for one.

Just tried today and somehow it worked. I don't know how or why I was getting ghost songs all the time before but it seems to have stopped. Thanks for the help though!
