Just thought I'd say hello. I have never really played any CS and I just bought GO. I will be checking it out for the next few days. I'm in our server now if anyone wants to hop in and throw me some pointers. :) Thanks!

By the way, I'm pretty perplexed by the whole workshop thing. I only play DoD so I've never really messed with it. Is there a guide or link that I can read about what I can do? Thanks!

Alrighty, serious time. If you want to be good at CS, here are some pointers:

1. Practice your aim on deathmatch and aim servers, particularity with the AK, M4-S, Famas, and Galil.

2. Speaking of, the Silenced M4 is better, hands down; however, since you are starting, use the standard M4 as it has more ammo.

3. Play casual on the main line of comp maps (Cache, Dust2, Nuke, Mirage, Inferno, Train, and Office)
Don't play comp until you familiarized yourself with the maps and some of the basic call-outs.

4. Sound is very important in CS

5. Recoil in GO is atrocious, so aim first for the head and don't spray your ammo unless the enemy is close to you. If you have to spray, aim at the head, spray, and start moving the cross hair down.

6 Kits save kittens, always buy them when you have the money.

7. Speaking of money, you need at least 4000 on CT and 3200 on T to buy a full loadout. If you have less than that, you need to save by using only a good pistol. Buy only what you can use.

8. Communication is VERY important. Tell your teammates whats going on at what part of the map.

Also, don't worry about workshop for now. That's for people who want an easy way to install free custom skins and maps.

Awesome! Good tips, thank you.

Thank god! Sound was crucial to me in DoD 1.3 but isn't good at all in DoD Source in comparison.

Good to know, my aim is pretty bad to start with!

What?

This is why I joind eGO to begin with. The communication in DoD;S takes the game to a whole new level!

Thanks for the help!

Hit me up anytime and I'll play with / help you out! =)

When you shoot, only shoot 1-3 bullets at a time. I normally either do 1 or 3. 4 is not too bad, but after that, that's when the bullets start to fly.

Speaking of, the Silenced M4 is better, hands down.

Whether you use the silenced or unsilenced is based only on your play style, each one has it's own advantages. I personally prefer the unsilenced m4 because I usually do a 5-6 bullet burst, and that would get rid of the ammo in the silenced in a heart beat.

Also, since my mouse is very sensitive, sometimes I will accidentally right click and get stuck in the silencer animation.

Finally, I hate the sound the unsilenced m4 makes, it usually ruins my focus. Yes, I know it's weird.

I am the best counter strike player in the universe. Play with me for 20 seconds and you will become a demigod. Let me know chief.

It's true. I played with Buff and went from terrorbad to terrorble. It was quite the experience.

While that’s helpful and relevant, this thread is also 5 years old. I’m gonna close it, but thank you for the guide!
