Is Intel still the reigning king in regards to performance of SSD's? If not, who is? I see on NewEgg that Intel is finally comparable to Samsung 840 EV Pro, so I'm debating which to put into my new build when taxes come.

I believe Samsung's 880 Evo or something like that is the fastest out right now for performance wise. Not quite sure as I dont keep up on SSD's.

Also need to consider the different kinds of SSDs available (though the majority are MLC if I remember correctly)

IIRC technically the OCZ Vector 150 is the fastest but I would still recommend something from the Samsung 840 line due to doubts around the longevity of the Vector as well as the longevity of OCZ itself (the manufacturer). In addition to this, it isn't that much faster.

OCZ is too volatile for my liking. I'm pretty much set on Samsung (I have an 830 for my os), or Intel.

I'd get a Samsung 840-series or a Crucial M500 (which is what I've got -- the 480GB version of the M500). Benchmarks and reviews err on including those two amongst the top dogs.

Samsung it is. I'll be posting my potential build shortly, and am open to feedback
