Fatality 8500 GT?

I just bought the Fatality XFX 8500 with 512MB ram, etc at Best Buy... It's some limited edition deal... anyways.. I get home and won't install it till tonight when the family gets to bed (when I play =)... but just reading some reviews so far.. they seem less than stellar.. Mostly like it's horribly overpriced for the performance of it... although it is SILENT which is a BIG PLUS for me in my studio PC (which dual boots for TF2 =).

Anyways, I was curious if anyone has tried that card with TF2.. I want to bump up from 800x600 and go to 1280 by 1024. I'm not huge into gaming besides TF2.. so if it works well... and is quiet then maybe it's a keeper..otherwise it's going back to BBuy Wednesday.

I paid 150$ plus tax. My current x1550 runs tf2 great at 800x600 but chokes at 1280 x 1024... but if the increase in performance is hardly anything.... it's goin back baby =-)

Of course, none of the review sites used Tf2 to benchmark it =)

Always been fan of EVGA myself. Not as quiet, but solid cards.

I couldn't tell you how TF2 would run on that card. Generally though, I recommend against buying hardware at Best Buy- they're not really known for good prices.

Honestly though, if you're gonna drop 150 on a new card- you might want to consider saving up a bit more and dropping 70 bucks more on an 8800GTS.

Ok, I plunged in and returned the 8500 and got a 8600... and it's in there now.. and will hold me a little longer.. but I'm thinking... I'm gonna get an 8800gt. I didnt realize they were under $300. So later in the week I'm going back to get the 8000gt.

The 8600 is running smooth now.. but nothing like an extra bit of insurance for the future (esp for about $50 more).

The 8800's are under 300 $ now? Dang I did a bad thing while shopping for my video card i guess. I ended up getting the 7900GS because it was 110 or so and didn't feel like spending the 340 for the 8800... Oh well it runs max resolution max setting tf2 without a hitch, as well as max settings oblivion so I'm happy. But if you have the money I don't see areason why you shouldn't go ahead and push it up to the 8800, because then you can run the nextgen graphics games without having to upgrade pc again (maybe RAM/mb/processor but w/e)
