Invisibility Exploit??

At 3 in the morning January 15th, Volcom had a problem with an invisible player on the LazyTown server and I had an invisible sniper on Gravel....I banned the guy in my server and Volcom requested a ban for his guy. I've never seen a hack like that before, I was just wondering if u guys were familiar with it?

Odd bug if you ask me, it seems that the spy ability has leaked to other classes?

Nah I don't think it has anything to do with spyabilities. And besides, he was invisible all the time, wasn't he? That's definitely some sort of odd hack... Never seen anything like it...

Did the player know about it? was he talking or anything? Could it have just been a patch problem... somehow just not showing him

Yeah, I tried talking to the guy but he wouldn't respond, also he was aware that he was invisible and using it to his advantage

Was he invisible to sentries as well? IE. Was it a graphical bug or was he truly 'invisible'?

My guess is graphical bug..happened to me many times actually. Did you try restarting tf2 and checked if he was invisible again? That usually works for me.

His implication is that nobody could see this one particular player. And since the patch yesterday this is not the first report of such. Has anyone seen this done with anything but a scout?

Well.... I wasnt lagging, no glitching, studering etc.. It was runnign fine until he was going behind heavies and battting them and shooting them.! he knew he was invisible and he wouldnt respond.

Yeah, I've seen a solly with it, it can happen with all classes I'm guessing

It shouldn't happen to EVERYONE on your team that the guy appears invisible though. Just alt tab out and go back in and its fine again.

Yeah if it was a hack then it has to be a spy exploit since your computer is drawing the models in your game so in order to be invisible then it would have to convince the server and everyone's computers that he is a spy and invisible. Other wise its a bug in which your system doesn't draw the model on your screen however the server counts the shots/kills despite your inaction. Games are weird sometimes with bugs like one I had where I could see the lines used to draw the boundaries for water and glass in fort which was wicked annoying but fixed with a TF2 restart.

Yeah, I had a soldier be invisible to me. Nothing like a crit rocket coming out of mid-air. I don't think its an exploit though. I was the only one that couldn't see him AND he had a really crappy score. Just residual from the patch I suspect.

I've actually made some researching on it, asked some people I know. I didn't get ANYTHING. That is some serious business! :S

Make sure if this happens again, you ask everyone if they can't see the player, not just 2 people to confirm its a model hack
