A little writing .

So some of of you may know that I enjoy writing as I do not know how to draw :/. However I cannot figure out how to make all the ideas I have flow together in a readable form for a story.
Here are a few pieces of a poem I am working on that I would like to turn into a book eventually.
They were based on an RP i did with some friends a couple years ago, however it ended when life split us up.


9 Dragons Fall
(Summary poem)
Nine Dragon Kings there are,
But only one emperor upon the bar.
Nine lords of all the earth,
Who rule from blackened hearth.
Master of all they survey,
To hold the hordes of humanity at bay.
Nine lords of light and dark present,
Do the spectrum represent.
Nine stone statues now do lie in blackened hall,
To immortalize their fall.
Nine former lords of all the earth,
Rule no more from darkened hearth.

Master of all they survey,
To hold the hordes of humanity at bay.
Nine lords of light and drak present,
Do the Spectrum of good and evil represent.
Master of air and first to fight,
Is the benevolent lord of White.
Lord of shadow and hidden from sight,
Is he who is Blacker than the night.
Master of war and of enraged disposition,
Is he who sits upon the Red dragon's position.
Ruler of the sea and eater of fishes,
Is the Blue dragon of water and wishes.
Herald of time and ageless of old,
Is the title lord Purple doth hold.
Justice for all and mercy for none,
A mighty judge is the Golden one.
Queen of growth and soft leafy showers,
Is the Green dragon of flowers.
Master of science and knowledge,
Is the earthy Brown dragon.
Emperor Supreme and most powerful of all,
is the star spawned Silver, lord of all.



I would love some tips and or ideas for turning this into a book as Poetry is not exactly my preferred style of writing. If you like it or what not give me a follow on fur affinity or deviant art.

I think it's a great start. I want to hear more.

So first off before I start giving advice, are you looking for this to have a prose format or do you want to continue with a metrical structure?

And are you familiar with things like character development and plot building? These steps really help in making the story you have in your mind flow together well for the readers.

Here is an example on character development (source: http://writingcenter.tamu.edu/2008/...ing-2/character-development-creative-writing/ )

Physical Details about the character: Is he/she short, tall, thin, old, etc?
Physical environment surrounding the character: Is he/she on a desert island, in an urban community, living in the mountains, etc?
The other characters surrounding the character: What kinds of people does the character associate with?
The things that the character does: Does he/she go to school, fly an airplane, eat pizza every night for dinner, etc?
The things that the character says or thinks: These things reveal the character’s feelings and opinions about things.

It might feel like you are doing extra work but it actually helps you create a deeper story, more meaningful characters and it prevents writer's block.
