So, I've dabbled with LoL but I've never been super serious into. Now, I'm kind of starting to get back into it. Any suggestions on how to learn the game play? Characters to begin with? Videos/people to watch to learn? Etc.

For me when I started, I read the Summoner's code on the official website, it sort of helped me.

Afterwards just try to main a champion and try not to die

Just find a champion you really like and practice. Practicing will make you good at anything, that's just how it is.

Also, don't get mad at your teammates when playing normals; you'll lose the game.

Pick up and learn a champion you enjoy playing. Mechanics and a clear head are good to have. And just learn from your own mistakes. ^^

Don't take the game too serious. You win some you lose some. Get to know the meta (Tanky Bruiser top, Tanky Jungler, Assassian/Burst Ap mid, AD Carry/Support bottom) and pick whichever appeals to you.

If you ever really need to look up what items to buy, http://www.probuilds.net/ is a very good resource to look at.
