Site Ads Are Clean

<div style="width: 500px; text-align: center" align="center">Occasionally we get reports of an ad on the site that security software, usually Avast, flags as a virus. We even have a leadership forum for reporting these ads, which are then passed on to our Ad Network.

According to John Davis, our Ad Network representative at Texas Team Players, every report to date has been a false positive or error by Avast. Regarding a recently reported ad, John said, "They seem to just be reported by Avast, which is known for false positives. Our site is running some of the same ads as much larger sites, I'm sure they report the same sort of issues with Avast. "

The large majority of us who connect regularly to Edge-Gamers.com don't see these reports and feel completely safe browsing the site. Please continue to report ads that are questionable, but know that your security is very important to us and everything possible is done to ensure that you and your computer are safe while on eGO's website.

Same, the ads might be clean but the messages are not, the only option on the popup is to click ok, no close button.

One message is "Friday, January 3 ALERT! Your LG Nexus 4 is INFECTED. Please INSTALL to continue".

I think these ads are terrible and are using scare tactics to get people to install crap on their phone.

Norton actually blocked a virus for me once. So, its not just avast.

I don't mind ads except when I access eGO web from my mobile and those pesky ads keeps popping up. The ads which only lets you click okay and redirect you to their webpage, if I press back it takes me back to blank page or even exit my mobile browser. Now, I only access eGO web via desktop/laptop.

I don't use Avast; in fact I'd never heard of it until reading this thread. But IE and/or Norton constantly reported malicious content on the site, and I heard similarly from at least a half dozen pubbers I referred to the site as well. Dedicated Supporters don't get the ads, and since I've become one I don't have any issues with site security reports.

Honestly, I raised this issue a year ago, and was told that it was an IE issue and nothing would be done about it. (Strange to blame IE when Norton reported issues as well, but I just thought it was a deflected observation rather than serious commentary.) At any rate, I would recommend returning to the ad partner with the comments on this thread. More checking should be done before blaming software.

Screencaps of the mobile ads / popups would be helpful. I personally haven't had an issue on iOS, I've never viewed on an Android device.

Legend, what appears on the screen is a notification box which basically tells you stuff like "Warning: Your device may have a virus, download to get rid of it". The reason you're not experiencing this on IOS is because android malware is way more widespread than on any other OS, in 2011 alone android had a 427% increase in malware.

If you use mozilla Firefox you can download the user agent switcher addon to emulate an android device and maybe it will display the same adds which pops up on actual mobile devices, i don't know how i would take a screen shot on my phone

Norton Security warning painted my screen red & said this site is unsafe (kandouing.com). I didn't click on any ads.
