Agreed, everything about that show is amazing.
I knew that a long shot was coming, but didn't realize this was it until a few minutes in. I was like NO WAY!
Absolutely stellar. It's my hope that the writers will have more to share for another season, though with different actors in a different area (this is what it sounds like they are doing). Would love to see some more bigger names like harrelson and matthew get attached to future seasons.

Now we finally find out what Cohle's been up to.
After reading this thread I decided to check it out. It's very dark, deep, and in-depth story, perhaps too much for some people to handle as even I struggled to keep in mind everything going on. However, 4-5 episodes in, you will start to understand what's going on. If you're more of "get to the point," you will be unsatisfied. They draw you in very, very slowly on the characters and then pop, you've watch the entire episodes already aired and cringing for the next one. I too would have to agree, this by far is the best show on TV at the moment. There was another detective show I was watching late last year and it was called Line of Duty.
Line of Duty was pretty good. I didn't realize a second season has just started though haha. I need to watch it. I think True Detective is on a whole other level though.
When Marty watched the video, I started to feel sick just thinking about what he was watching. Having a TV show being able to convey that is incredible. It's awesome.
I started watching this on HBO GO this week. ONly 3 episodes in. I like the concept and the time jump story lines, but it is a bit slow. Not sure where it is going or what the idea is for more seasons . They could do an American Horror Story and use the same actors but in different time periods and characters.

Well I'm happy with the way that ended.
Also,
Like I'm alright with the way they ended it, but I kinda want know more about that particular subject.
Also,
I wish they would have at least answered that whole Yellow King thing.
A lot of people actually really hated the ending, but I for one felt peace alongside of Rust.
As for your particular subject, the writers really didn't pin point it out. I'm pretty sure however, it had something to do with the cult. They didn't catch everyone in that cult yet, so it's possible we may see a recap in season 2, if they ever do another season. I think they're going with the way how AHS (American Horror Stories) works regarding their seasons, but I could be wrong. So right now we still have a lot of information that never got released, such as the Yellow King.

Yeah, next season will be a new cast and probably a new setting. Honestly, I found it kind of refreshing that series didn't feel the need to answer every question or stop all the bad guys. I probably would have disliked the ending if it tried to wrap everything up in a nice neat bow. Some questions will never be answered, but that's just the nature of the narrative, the show just didn't need to answer those questions.
I think the scene with Marty and Cohle in the hospital sums it up the best. Cohle is complaining that they didn't get everyone and Marty replies something like "yeah, but at least we got our man."
