Zoomer is down for the count........
Well it finally happened. My Dell XPS has cooked its innerds. It started with random rebooting, hanging and display problems. Now the bugger wont get past the boot screen without displaying what looks like a 1980 DOS 8-bit game color scheme. I'm typing this from my work laptop - I dont know if this machine will even run the game. It's another Dell, an Inspiron 6000.

This is so frustrating because there are so many positive things going on in the clan lately. I will try to download steam and TF2 onto this comp., and will make every effort to be at the admin seminar, but I cant guarantee anything at this point.

Maybe I should do what Sharpshooter did to fix his computer - punch the crap out of the back of it and see if she boots....I did get a new AR-15 last night (NOT one of those silly paintball ones either - one that shoots 5.56 NATO...) maybe I'll sight it in on my tower!

On a side note it was a blast having Vent. and talking to Blackhawk, GardenGrove and the rest of you - too bad it only lasted 2 days before the mother board (I think) got cooked.

FEAR NOT COMRADES...I WILL BE BACK!!!

What Chris said.

It does indeed sound a lot like a system that's receiving inconsistent power. In my experience, there are very few things in a computer that fail gradually. Most things die suddenly and without warning.

I'm Back in Business!!!!!!!

Turns out it was a bad video card. One of the capacitors was loose (??) from the board. When I took it out and touched it the capacitor fell off. After a quick trip to the store and a new card she's up and running!! Thanks too all that helped! See you on the servers!

Weird. That's one to add to my bag o' wisdom. I suppose having a dangling (pregnant perhaps?) capacitor would jank up the power of the system as well.

Glad to hear that it was a relatively simple fix.

That... wow.

A broken capacitor that just happened to balance in place well enough to work intermittently?

That's freaking magic man...

That sucks really bad :/ I hope you solve your PC problem though so you can get back on!
