heey , as some of you know, i play my game's trough my laptop because my laptop is able to run them.

my desktop however is 1 terrible pain in the ***

setup:

processor: intel(R) core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40 GHz 2.40 Ghz
Ram: 1GB
32 Bit. Nvidia GeForce 8500GT

it's an office computer i got for free, i still have to save up for a new game rig since my old one broke down.
but haven't been able to save up much lately

i think the videocard etc id good enough to run css/dod/tf2 but i really have to expand my ram memory.

now my question is, will that be enough to also play those games on this desktop , or do i need to get more into it, ( its just an simple desktop i got from someone once )

my second question is , i got some mouse failure's where i posted about in this forum also , but still haven't got quite an answer, when i searched for an answer using google i came accros this:

it could be your usb controller still, im wondering if it has lost the ability to run at over 250hz polling rate and the default for the mouse tends to be 500hz.

not all controllers are equal, it could be that yours has started to die from the higher polling rate.

one thing you could try if you have a powered usb hub is to change the settings on the mouse on one pc to 250hz, keep the hub powered and plug the hub into the pc the mouse is not working on as the mouse loses its settings once power is lost and it will revert to 1800dpi and 500hz polling rate.

my problem is , i really don't know what that is all about ? do i have to buy anothr mouse, do i not need to buy a razor again ? my thread can be found Here

I'm going to answer the first question only. The 8500GT isn't a powerful card, but you already know that. It should be sufficient to run the games you're looking to run, though maybe buying a new card in the range of $100-125 wouldn't be a bad idea if you're interested. More RAM will definitely help you. The main issue I have is what is the mobo exactly. If i'm not mistaken, you're going to be stuck with only buying DDR2 RAM and only up to 4GB total (Because of the limit with 32-bit OS only recognizing up to 3.5GB).

alright ! i sure will be looking to buy a more powerfull card ! , and about the ram , i didn't know that it will only recognize 3,5 GB :O ? i was thinking about buying 4/8 gb expansion
as you might noticed , im not that well known in this kind of tech stuff haha
 
Yeah you can get a fairly decent video card for the 100-150 range that will run what you are looking for on close to high setting and maybe even high settings. You would be able to play probably anything that came out around 2012 and back. Also you don't need more than 4 gigs of ram. Most games only require 2-3. I can only think of one game that requires more than 3-4 gig and that is CoD Ghosts (6 gig). Ram is cheap, but you need to make sure your motherboard supports what you buy. BUT if all you want to do is run css/dod/tf you could spend a good 300 (new card, motherboard, ram) and be just fine....

The mouse issue is complicated. From what you have said so far, the USB ports could have failed. I might also be a driver issue. You could try going into device manager and uninstalling or rolling back drivers. See if that helps.
 
If you get a new OS with 64-bit support, you can have more RAM recognized (8/16/32GB). However, the main concern I have is the motherboard. It's an older one, though I don't know which model. However, since it's a Q6600 on it, I can deduce it's using DDR2 RAM, which speed I can't say. But DDR2 comes in 400/533/667/800 MHz flavors. If this was a work PC, I'm going to guess it's using 533 or 667. If you can find 2x2GB DDR2 800MHz cheap, then I'd go with that.
 
well ,both thanks for you answers, i've been looking at what in it, it seems to be it's this one right [ame="http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-HP-Berkeley-GL8E-IPIBL-LA-5189-2129-5188-7726-8550-Motherboard-W-IO-Shield-/151239739033"]HERE[/ame] . i took some of the numbers that where on it , and they where ( hp p/n 5189-2129 c7br603-04599 ) wich took me to this, also ive searched on hp pavalion motherboard wich also brings me to this, i also got that w-io-Shield, it perfectly match each other, i hope you can help me a bit futher.

this one did he also find , also got matching numbers Here. this one can run up to 8gb ?

ps: blade, its not the ports my laptop does not take it either, now atm it's working for already 1 day , and if fell out again , now just putted it in , and its working again , when its not working my computer says it does not recogcnize the mouse, and i shoudl find a replacement ?

ps: This is a shop we also got within the netherlands, here i can settup my own rig, well if you guys want, can you set me up something, wich should easaly run css/dod/tf2/ and maybe bc2 ( i own this game but i never played it cause my laptop and desktop can't runn it well ) i don't have a big amount of money to spend, but if you like and want, give me a cheap rig and a middle/high rig, i would be really thankfull !

You can put up to 8GB of DDR2 RAM, but the 32-bit OS will only recognize 3.5 GBz of it. So unless you change the OS to a 64-bit version, don't bother upgrading it past 4GB.
 
will 4gb upgrading useless for me ?

what you reccomand me to buy ? than i will look if i can order such stuff
 
Buy 2x2GB of DDR2 800 MHz and use that. The software only recognizes up to the 3.5GB amount, but it'd be cheaper to just buy the two sticks than try to get a 2 GB, 1 GB, and 512MB stick of RAM.
 
alright , will do that as temporary solution , you got any advise to for a complete new rig , wich is able to play game's till bf3 or something maybe bf4, within normal price range ?

just simple suggestions, out of your personal experiance ?

How much of a budget do you have? What parts will you reuse? Do you need a new OS CD to install with? Any stores you prefer to buy from?
