I am not that great of a player. I often have poor game sense and run into things I shouldn't. My ability to use a grenade is almost non existent

However in the time I've played, I've answered some of the burning questions I've had, for example where to aim (body/head?), what sensitivity to use etc.

It is typically extremely unwise to divulge your secrets however I will do precisely that so long as you ask me.

If you have a question about fps games that eats away at you ask me and I'll tell you what I think you need to know
 
When you're shooting, always burst fire while pulling your mouse down slowly
This will help you improve your accuracy

In close combat situations go full auto fire from the hip

Never EVER go lone wolf, always move with your team. This will improve your kd/r

Don't be afraid to use your explosives, there's no such thing as "n00b weapons, if anyone says otherwise, they're dead wrong.

Follow these simple pointers and your performance will gradually get better :)

I have a question immortal, where is the best place to aim, and what cross hair to use? btw any tips to help better myself with a rifle?

Question: where is the best place to aim?

Answer: The neck

Explanation: The head being an instant kill has added value, unfortunately it is a harder target. If you were to aim really low (legs/body) you would get a lot of hits as it is a larger target and the subsequent recoil shots will continue to hit them instead of flying over their head if you were aiming strictly for the head. The ideal situation is a synthesis of the two, if you aim for the neck you have an easier target with a high likelihood of a headshot.

Question: What cross hair to use?

Answer: personal preference

Explanation: Your cross hair matters little, what is important is where that crosshair is when you aim at them(known as crosshair placement). I personally use the default crosshair because it is dynamic and gives me information about my accuracy while moving. A lot of players use a small or transparent crosshair as it occludes less of their vision. All in all the crosshair shouldn't matter too much, but if you use the dynamic crosshair you will notice how sensitive this game is to movement. In counter strike you can move and shoot with much more ease.

Immortal nailed the question, but I'd like to add that when playing sniper classes or using a k98, the chest is an easier target. It's bigger and it's still an instakill. Of course, headshots are always beautiful, but when your'e trying to break a rush and you have to do insanely fast peeking, it's better to aim for the chest.

When I used to play as assault and support more often, I found it best to start shooting at the chest and let the recoil kick up to the head before I pulled my mouse down. However, when you are in a close quarters situation, recoil is a much smaller factor, so if you can it's better to find the head :) Crouching is also important for accurate shots, especially if you are at medium to long range.

Shooting while moving is not very effective unless you are at very close range. I've gotten in the habit of strafing, stopping for a split second, firing, then continuing to strafe. Shooting is most accurate while not moving. Above all, just playing and practicing with different guns will help your accuracy.

As for crosshairs, I found that after learning all the recoil patterns and gaining experience with all the weapons, a small static crosshair was much more effective for me. I think the size of your crosshair is a great factor (static or dynamic doesn't matter) as it needs to be small enough that it doesn't obstruct your vision, but it's big enough that you can actually see it :)

Color can also be important, as a yellow or light blue crosshair may be hard to see when looking at different surfaces. I like pink as a preference because I can see my crosshair on almost every surface in the game. As Immortal says, no one can tell you what crosshair to use. You have to experiment for yourself.

When in doubt shoot anyways.

Don't worry about your kdr.

what do you meen by peeking? I kind of get the crosshair placement, like you said go for neck/chest. and dynamism? ive played this for years and I honestly have no idea what that is lol.
 
Dynamism is inaccuracy that is caused by movement. DoD is really sensitive to movement. This is a big deal for rifles since your first shot is very important.

There are three ways to deal with this

1. start-stop: if you were strafing right and holding "d" you can quickly let go of "d" and tap "a" to stop yourself. This will cause you to stop and allow you to make the shot.

2. Crouch peeking: In Dod if you crouch and peek your crosshair will return to a still position much faster than if you are running.

3. Peeking slowly: If you tap your movement keys slowly, you will have less movement speed and therefore less movement recoil.

Filter seeing as you are seemingly the only person interested in this information. I will PM you an explanation of peeking/crosshair placement in time.
 
I used to practice with a few guys from Team3D back in the day and they will not play until they have washed there hands. They said is actually helps with aiming as you get better contact with the mouse. Just thought i would let you guys know one of my secrets
