Backlight on laptop

So recently I was just playing around on my laptop. Its an Envy m6 1105dx. I turned it off and when I came back to pop back on all of a sudden the screen wasn't working. I thought it was just loading up but when you take a flashlight to the screen you can just barely see whats going on. I took it to my local computer repair and they were no help. I have been connecting my laptop to my TV with an HDMI chord. Which I don't mind but that means its not mobile. I dunno its driving me nuts? So if anyone has an idea! I think its probably the backlight itself. MY computer does have a few dents and dings, I used to live on a farm with a crazy dog?

Sounds like the backlight, I'm surprised the computer repair place didn't know what it was. It's a pretty easy fix if you're comfortable with electronics/have some experience fixing laptops before. It looks like it's not so hard to find a replacement screen with backlight for your laptop at a decent price, so maybe just pick one up and do a swap?
