I played D&D for the first time the other day, and to anyone else who has the opportunity to play, I'd highly reccomend it. For those of you who actually HAVE played D&D, feel free to share your stories of what happened here. I'll start. (You don't have to read the wall of text if you don't want to though.)

How things ended up going is I, the handsome Lord Bromeo, was sent on a mission by the king to investigate disappearances in the neighboring village. When I arrived, Sish (My friend Roman) saved me from some bandits, so we started to hang out, and he helped with the investigation. Michael's Character (Who's name I don't remember) seemed adimant that nobody was missing, and that we just leave, making him a prime suspect. We kept our distance and continued with the investigation. We ended up in the town shop, and the shop-keep was missing, and there was fresh blood on the floor. When we were looking around, a guy walked in, and started to freak out because the shopkeeper was missing, and there was blood on the floor. I distracted him by pretending to be the shopkeeper while Roman sneaked up on him, and then grabbed him, and kept him from screaming before he ran off and alerted some un-needed attention. I leaped over the counter and punched him in the face a couple times to knock him out. After the guy was out cold, the door opened, and in walked another citizen, only to see Roman holding him, and me standing over him with my fist up. He tried to back out of the store, and since I was just bumbling over myself trying to explain things, Roman took it into his own hands and aimed his bow at the guy. Luckily for us, that scared him enough to let us talk to him, and get him to take the unconcious guy and to keep his mouth shut. We decided that fighting random citizens wasn't getting us anywhere, so we decided to go find Michael again, because he was pretty much our only lead. (This is out-of-character stuff, but while we were in the shop, Michael was fighting something or someone. Our characters have no knowledge of this.) We find him standing in a feild, but he just vanishes. With lack of any other leads, we go to the person we probably should have talked to in the first place, the Sheriff. As things progress in our conversation with the Sheriff, Roman ends up fainting, and the building suspiciously lights on fire. I bust out of the building, Roman on my shoulders, and the Sheriff right behind. Things happen, and we get paired up with Michael (Who has been suspicious to begin with, I'm very reluctant to let this happen.), the sheriff allows Roman to help in furthering the investigation, puts them under my command (Since I'm a lord, I out-rank everyone there), and he sends us off to the next city where he wants us to check out. On the journey, we come across an encampment of four people. We don't know their intent, so I command Roman and Michael to surround the encampment, and wait for things to go bad before they reveal themselves. While sneaking to my spot, I trip and alert the people in the camp that I'm there. They didn't seem bad, so I dusted my self off, and chatted with them for a bit. Suddenly, their leader bursts into flames and dies in front of me, the others run off, and now I'm the one who's starting to look like the bad guy. Accusations are made, and I command that they remain at least thirty feet away from me and eachother, and we continue on. As we progress, we hear rustling in the bushes. We wait for a bit, but nothing happens. We continue on. The rustling continues, and after a breif argument, Roman and Michael carry on, but I remain suspicious, and hang back. I hear the rustling again, swing my axe at where I heard it come from, but nothing happens. Roman and Michael notice this, and start to get mad, because we agreed to just start ignoring the rustling until something important happens. As I'm trying to explain my actions, I point and Roman, who suddenly bursts into flames, further making me look like the bad guy. So in my characters mind, I am certain that Michael is the one doing it. Roman is incapacitated for the moment, so I use the fact that he combusted to my advantage. In my mind, the first thing he would do when he stood up is shoot me with an arrow. I did the only thing I could think to do- threaten to kill him if he didn't help me kill Michael. They were already borderline 'abandon-airheaded-lord', so the thing I needed most was a team-mate. I didn't care for how long, but I just needed one long enough to defeat Michael. Michael proceeds to try and convince Roman that he wasn't the one who lit him on fire, and that I am really the bad guy here, leaving Roman in a pretty shitty situation. Either get killed by me if he attacks me, or murder someone who he trusts (They live in the same village, and haven't had any disputes), after which he has no clue what to do, because now he's running around with a psychopath. At this moment, I'm almost shot by an arrow from the trees, and some lady reveals herself, says she was following us, and starts confronting me about the person that I supposedly lit on fire. I explain myself along the way, but she doesn't believe a word of it, and we arrive at our destination. This is where we ended the adventure for today, to resume at some point. I still have no clue who is lighting who on fire, but it was some jolly good fun.

DnD has the dumbest shenanigans, sometimes.

For example, I have a necromancer that has to roll sanity checks to be able to do, well, anything. If he fails, he goes crazy (which happens quite often). I've ended up killing two other party members and singlehandedly saving the group.

As the GM in most cases, I have frequently subjected my players to various forms of psychological torture. They're sort of emotional masochists, however, so they enjoy it. :)
