What to Do with Instagib? Round One

It is a private plugin, and we do not have permission to use it. Any other server using it aside from the owners' are knock-offs.

Anyway, I'd note that these old members who we would be trying to pull back in with Blackmesa left when the server left. That kind of fairweather support for the community is not impressive, especially when Blackmesa has come and gone two or three times in the past three years.

This is my opinion on Black Mesa. First I'd like to list pros and cons of changing the Instagib server to Black Mesa and then I'd like to make a few suggestions for if the idea of BM is successful, and then I'd like to make a small summary of stating my opinion.

Pros:
-The once popular Black Mesa server would be revived.
-BM is a widely loved map among eGO TF2 members.
-The Instagib server would not feature Saxton Hale (THIS IS A JOKE. HAHA.)
-Instead of having to wait until Sunday nights, members can play any time on any day.
-Sunday is a very inconvient day anyway; many members have work/school the following day and require sleep.

Cons:
-There would be no looking forward to the weekly event known as Black Mesa Sunday as it would be pointless to even have the event (we don't have a 2Fort Tuesday, now do we?).
-The server would need filling, as it is not a vanilla map.
-All that quickplay garbage.

Suggestions:
-GameMe support.
-General recognition of the server being like a regular server (ex. "FFTF to BM!", no calling it instagib anymore lol) being promoted/shown.
-A set event for every Sunday to replace BM Sunday. (ex. Convoy Sunday, Surf Sunday, etc)

Summary: I think that Black Mesa could actually work out. Although I would prefer a vanilla map, it's quite evident that many people here would definitely play on it regularly and perhaps fill it. I don't know many people who dislike BM, either. We could easily find a replacement Sunday event.

I didn't even play anything BUT BM for the first 6 months I played the game. Rofl and Aimshot drove me to pulling my hair out on that map. But, I can see it being hard to fill unless we can get more pubs in it. I know it would be my preferred map again because the long hallways are great for sniping.

Black Mesa was brought back not once, but three times. If it comes back again, I hope majority really stands behind it.

We will be doing a few rounds of voting, so we will see how this turns out.

People are also just voting for maps they will play once in awhile pubs wont be joining certain maps for a little while so it will be up to the community to keep certain maps alive.

Im voting for a map I will only play on. I only play on 2fort (and getting bored of it) and no other map that eGO servers have kept my attention long, I only visit them if need to admin. I am one of the regulars when Mesa was never empty. I went for a leave of absence for a few months and came back to it being gone.:cursing:


Would it be a bad thing if trying to fill a server like Mesa by taking or inviting players from another eGO server, especially full server? I am thinking no it is not (correct me if I am wrong here) for it would just open slots for other pubs that would fill the void.

I could be wrong, but at least once, possible twice, Mesa was a part of a rotation and not a 24/7 server. I remember this, since a number of times I hopped on the server when it was there only to have another person hop on it and RTV it into something else. Thus Mesa didn't get much love.

I also think that if black mesa comes back not a lot of pubs will play it just the people who voted.. It will be our job to fill it
