One of my first matches in Heroes of the Storm Alpha recorded via Shadowplay:

So while launching my Battle.Net desktop app for the first time in months to look at some info on the Diablo III expansion, I happened to noticed that I've stumbled into the Technical Alpha for Blizzard's developing MOBA, Heroes of the Storm.

It's been fun so far, but it's a much different animal than League or Dota:

Similarities:
1) Five heroes vs five heroes.
2) Lanes (anywhere from two to four).
3) A base with smaller Forts and Towers expanding out from it down the Lanes.
4) QWER Hotkey Abilities.
5) Skillshots.
6) Roles such as Warrior, Assassin (Ranged or Melee), Support, and Specialist.
7) Neutral Camps, but these are defeated to convert them to fighting for you rather than for gold.

Differences:
1) The entire team shares every point of experience no matter the part of the map its earned on, and the entire Team Levels Up rather than individual heroes.
2) There are no items to buy and no currency.
3) There is no Last Hitting creeps or Heroes. You can be credited with a Solo Kill or a Takedown (killed an enemy with multiple people contributing), but everyone gets credit for Kill Streaks and such. Very Team focused rather than individual.
3) Mounts.
4) There is a greater emphasis on Roshan-like map objectives such as paying a pirate captain to bombard your enemy with his ship, gathering enough skulls to summon a bone golem to seige your opponent's base, or gathering enough tribute to entice a raven spirit to curse the enemy team.
5) Hero talent choices as levels are gained that either introduce new abilities or modify one of your four base abilities with new effects.

I'd say what I've seen so far is a pretty good iteration on the MOBA formula that shows some potential. Blizzard's stable of intellectual property backing it, such as being able to walk around playing as the archangel Tyrael, could very well produce a very enjoyable product if they keep improving it.
