The calendar indicates that it is spring, but Mother Nature has other ideas, as yet another snowstorm hits the Northeast. I should have hitched a ride to Florida with Quaffer. Fret not, warmer days loom ahead. In the meantime we have a hot April newsletter, chock full of news and information, including flamelauncher11’s inaugural article. Insomnia Princess waxes philosophical about the eGO family and introduces you to two rising stars in DoD leadership. CCCPofAmerica wraps it up by sharing the PSC’s newest way to grow the eGO family. Enjoy.

There were some big changes in the DoD Division in March and we’re happy to announce that with Megs A Tagger being promoted to Council, Day of Defeat now has a new Division Leader (Chuck Norris) and a new Advisor (Predator Lark).

Megs had a few things herself to say about these two promotions:

Chuck is the driving force of our Realism campaigns and the DoD:S competitive team. He has been extremely helpful to me and the rest of the leadership team. We rely on him for a lot, and we cannot thank him enough for his relentless support.
Predator Lark is the type of guy who would stop whatever he's doing just to help someone. He is easy going and very friendly to everyone. If it's a computer problem you need advice on, or if you need an admin to come in and help, Predator is usually the first to step up. Thank you both! You guys are awesome! -Megs

Chuck has been with eGO since early 2011 and over the years, with hard work and dedication, has worked his way up through the ranks to become Division Leader. He has donated his time as an admin, admin trainer, PSC member, Divisional Event Coordinator, Advisor, part of the DoD Comp Team, and much more.

Did you know that Chuck was born in Poland but now lives in the U.S. and that he enjoys ice hockey? As Megs said, he is also the driving force behind the Realism campaigns. Realism is a type of DoD game play that focuses on teamwork, tactics, and realistic actions. You can learn more about this in the Realism Handbook.

I asked Chuck to tell us a couple things he loves about eGO. He says, "The people and the variety. I don't think I would be playing DoD if it wasn't for the people that hang out with us in TS3. As for the variety, you can play any game supported by eGO, and they all have something different to offer."

To clear the air on what we are all wondering, I asked if he was the real Chuck Norris. Chuck replied, "By definition, there could be only one Chuck Norris." Well, I guess that settles it.

Predator has been active in eGO since joining in 2012. He received the Renaissance Man award for his multi-divisional efforts to help EdgeGamers grow and prosper. He has been an admin trainer, has participated in the DoD competitive team, and regularly helps members with their tech issues. Among many other things, Predator Lark is a valuable asset to the eGO family and is always willing to pitch in and lend a helping hand.

If you want to see Predator Lark in action, you can always play with him on the servers or check out this DoDS frag video he put together with some nice shots.

So with that, we want to wish a big congratulations to both Chuck and Predator and we hope you have gotten to know them a little bit better now. If you see them around, be sure to say hello.

Chuck adds that there will be a lot happening in the upcoming months in DoD, so keep an eye out for announcements on the forums.

“The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.” ~ Aristotle

As a member of eGO, you are a part of something very special. This month we want to take a moment to highlight some of the reasons the eGO family is so great.

Each division within eGO is amazing for a variety of different reasons, but as a whole EdgeGamers is greater than the sum of its parts. Together we are a family -- a great big gaming family. This is what makes us different from other gaming clans and communities. We have history and heritage, humor and hysterics – friends who come together in good times and stand together through bad times. This is about more than just playing a game. Here you can meet friends for life.

From the founding members to the newest recruit, we are all part of the same gaming family and from day one, as an =e=, we have opportunities to advance and grow within the community. We can volunteer our talents. If you are not sure how, ask an Advisor. Even the newest members can make a difference.

Let’s reflect on the past for a moment and see where it all began.

eGO was founded on July 1, 2006 by JohnT and Artimus with just a website and a single Day of Defeat: Source Avalanche server. Now, it’s 2014 and we have grown so much more than those founding members probably ever imagined. If you have not done so already, you should read the History and Structure page to learn a little more about this great gaming family , of which you are a part.

We have a division for most of the leading games today, but if there is not currently an eGO presence in the game of your choice, there is opportunity for you to help make it happen. Click over to Operation: X where they try out new games. Our foundation rests on honor, loyalty, and integrity. We have a reputation for maintaining fair and "punk-free" servers. These are the principles that eGO was founded upon. They still hold strong today throughout all the games that eGO supports.

This month we invite you to reach out and learn more about some other branches of the eGO family. Some of you do this already. If you haven’t yet, take some time to learn more about the other gamers who call eGO home.

You could visit another division. Many of the games are free or have free trials. You could pop into the TeamSpeak3 channels of another division to say hi; see what your fellow members are up to. You can also come by the forums or attend "Meet n Greet" events for different divisions and take some time to get to know one another. Don’t be afraid to cross those divisional walls - you already have one thing in common: being a member of eGO.

CCCPofAmerica

Spring break is over, and many of you are headed back to school. Hopefully everyone had a fun-packed spring break.

Lucas15 received a Division Leader Commendation for his long lasting commitment and dedication to the PSC. In case you don't know, Lucas15 is in charge of all trainers within the PSC. Without him, it would be very difficult to have properly trained PSC members. All PSC members must know how to process and accept members into eGO. Lucas15's service goes a long way in achieving this. Thank you Lucas15.

As some of you know the PSC is starting their very own recruiting program, led by XxDoomxX. This program will focus on recruiting members on a clan wide scale. The PSC recruiters will help many divisions that are in need of new members. They will achieve this by creating fun new recruiting events. The PSC recruiting program has already collected a team of recruiters, including Drew-X , Exoh, Icydud, Insomnia Princess, Jon, and CCCPofAmerica.

These recruiters are responsible for selecting and recruiting members. They will also be responsible for creating and running recruiting events. These events might even include prizes which are randomly given out. You will also see these recruiters at divisional recruiting drives. Many members of leadership are very excited about the potential of this program. Make sure you stay aware of these new, exciting recruiting events. Furthermore, if you are a PSC member, feel free to send an application in if you are interested in becoming a PSC Recruiter.

The PSC is also starting a new program called the New Member Experience (NME). This is a global retention program designed to help new members become comfortable with EdgeGamers. Any new member who applies and gets accepted will automatically receive a PM inviting them to join the NME. If the new member decides to accept, they will be assigned a PSC NME member as a mentor. A new =e= is not required to participate. The PSC leadership is hoping that this program will give new members a very positive experience as they get to know eGO.

That's the address for our Battlefield 4 Obliteration server. Since it was switched from a mixed mode server to Obliteration the server rank has gone from the low two thousands to the middle of the six hundreds.

Let me lay it out for you. Obliteration has two teams: the good guys (that would be you and your stalwart companions), and the bad guys (those uncultured poltroons of questionable personal hygiene over there). Each team has three targets that they need to defend. On the other side of the coin, or perhaps the map, there are three targets that need to be taken out.

The targets can only be taken out with a bomb and there is only one bomb on the map at any given moment in time. Once the bomb has been successfully placed and the target taken out, the bomb spawns again. The problem is you don't know where it is going to spawn.

You'll need to have part of your team guarding your targets, and part of your team dispersed around the map to intercept the bomb and in the meantime those uncultured poltroons of questionable personal hygiene are doing their level best to get you to take a dirt nap.

Now to get around the map quickly the teams have access to vehicles. To aid in defense the teams can employ Claymores, AT mines, and C4.

It makes for a very fast-paced game.

Hey, what's that behind you? It's the bomb. Grab it. Quick!

Hello everyone, let's go over to the CS Division to check up on how they lock and load. There is cause for celebration; please wish _MEGA, one of the CS Division's Advisors, a very happy 18th birthday!

Competition

eGO's Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitive team scored yet another well-deserved win on the classic CS map de_train, bringing their seasonal score to a cozy four wins with only a single loss so far. Wish the competitive team luck in their upcoming events, and be sure to stay up-to-date with their CEVO stats here.

Server Filling Team

The Counter-Strike Division has an official Server Filling Team. If you haven't already, it’s time to check it out. Led by our very own dotPHUNK, the Server Filling Team (SFT) is dedicated to helping our beloved EdgeGamers servers grow in both CS:S and CS:GO. There are captains assigned to each server who have set dates to go and encourage players to fill up a server (and possibly recruit some pubs as well). You are invited to join the SFT's open Steam group to be notified of server filling events, meetings, and more.

Here at eGO, we strive to create a family-friendly and fun gaming experience for players in games of all genres. If nobody knows about our servers, then how are we supposed to achieve that mission? The Server Filling Team is here to fix that; filling our servers boosts our server rankings, thus bringing in more players to experience the wonderful community that is EdgeGamers. We even provide dedicated server-fillers with special forum achievements to thank them for their dedication. CS:S has the Server Filling Champion award and CS:GO has A Call for Blood. So start showing your dedication to the community and fill up those servers.

Recruiting

Recruiting is what keeps eGO alive. Without the power of recruiting, the community would not be as large as it is today. Totaling over 68,800 registered members, the EdgeGamers community is composed of many players who strive to keep this community the #1 PC gaming community -- one division at a time. The Counter-Strike Division hosts many events to help members of all ranks and ages to bring new players into the community. Most of these events are held by a special team of Recruitment Coordinators, led by celebrity Advisor Wize. The Recruitment Coordinators host weekly Recruitment Drives, typically on Thursdays, to get together and recruit players as a team. Drives are hosted in TeamSpeak and on our own eGO CS servers. Prizes for recruiting include forum achievements and awards as well as awesome games! If you have an hour of free time and are wondering how you could become noticed in this community, hop on over to the CS Division Recruiting Steam Group and join in our fantastic events.

Thanks for your attention. Make sure you join those Steam groups I mentioned earlier. You’ll be glad you did!
