Help if possible

every weekend i come home from where i live for school, but i come home to a computer that cant seem to run TF2 or any Steam games no matter wat i try.
It has Radeon 7000 series graphics card, which isnt that bad
i was just wonderin if anyone could help me out and lemme no if there is someway i could get TF2 runnin cause i hate not being able to play on weekends

Lets start off with the type of computer?
Processor:
Ram:
Graphics Card: Radeon 7000
Internet connection:

Theres alot of variables there..

Is the game installed?

Does the game get to the menu screen?

Can you get in game??

Be a bit more specific and its gonna be easier to help you out.

What errors does it give you?

alright my bad on my givin enough info
but i was checkin out the computer

its a pentium 4 processor
my inty connection is cable

i installed steam and the game fine
its when i double click on the game to fire it up
it loads the vavle intro part
and i see thr TF2 start menu page, but without the menu
it just says loadin...
then it just closes and brings me back to my menu
at first it said something about not havin directx 8
but im pretty sure i do, and when it said that i went and downloaded a bunch of directx's to see if it wood work

like theres something missin
i used to play WoW off it, so i cant see y it couldnt run TF2
 
So when it goes into the TF2 splash screen but no menu....

Does the window close? like your back on desktop? If yes...is the program "minimized" like on your start menu bar?

That happens to me sometimes...i'll be loading a map or somethign and it'll dump me back to my desktop.

Is that wahts happenin?
 
Try to get a DirectX 9. The latest version you can find and install it. Also update the drivers for your video card. You can get these at Ati.com. If you have been playing wow on the machine you should be able to play TF.
 
yea, like i click on the game, it starts to fire up
the valve into comes and goes
then it shows the TF2 background loading screen, no menu shows up though
then it does the minimize action
but doesnt go to my bar at the bottom, it just disappears

i dl'ed directx 9.0 but nothin really happened, maybe i did it wrong though
and i updated my drivers, thats all fine.

i dunno wats wrong, but if i cant fix it then i just gotta stick with playin after school for hours, haha
but playi on the weekend wood be sick cuase i wood be that much more active to the clan
 
Just so you know Mookie, being able to play WoW and being able to play TF2 are completely different things. Wow came out in 2004 and only had moderate system requirements. TF2 is just a few months old and has relatively high system requirements.

I'm not sure that your card has full support for DirectX 8, which is a requirement.

You can get a system information sheet by going to Start, selecting "Run...", typing in "dxdiag", clicking OK, selecting "Save All Information..." on the window that pops up, and then saving that file somewhere. Send that file to me, and I can look at it to find out more information. I'll send you my email address in a PM.
