So who's a DayZ fanatic!? I really like this game and the concept. But I SUCK! I cant get past 30 mins and I have yet to find food or even a weapon. The most I've had was a Flannel with Cargo pants and a motorcycle helmet and they only thing I had looted was my original t-shirt ripped for rags and a bottle of Disinfectant spray. I've watched some beginners videos and such, but it does't seem to matter. I also have been playing on eGO's server that usually only has like 3 people on there... So its not like there's 30 people that have raided everything...

So who here know every in and out of this game that can help a noob out? Maybe some DayZ training classes? idk haha

I found the hardest part of learning DayZ was figuring out where the heck I was at after spawn(location still is main part). After you get familiar with where you are at, you have to learn which buildings you want to raid. I found that going into the firehouse/supermarkets/construction sites/office(school) buildings to be the best place to find good loot.

After that make your way to one of the various military sites...making sure to hit major building along the way. In about 30 minutes you should be able to spawn, and have at least a weapon/food and some clothes to keep you going on a low pop server. I always have my map on shift+tab with the steam overlay since I don't have a second monitor.

Thanks for that input!

So there is a map? For some reason i thought that there was no 'Map" that shows where you are in-game, just maps you can download, but i haven't used them because i figured that you would have to Know where you are ( through experience) to be able to use those maps.

Yep, there is an in game map, but you have to find the fragments...I have been playing for months and still have yet to find one, nor would I pick it up. Also I'm pretty sure it doesn't show your position. There are some that you can show your position but I'm weary of them.

I use www.dayzdb.com/map. So that's why I believe knowing landmarks and being able to triangulate your position is the most important part to learn early on. Once you can find yourself you are pretty much golden.

I started playing like 3 days ago.. So far I have been killed 5 times by zombies but now I have found a bat, backpack, cargo pants and some other stuff. Beginner luck right there.
