The "Local Area Connection" is experiencing driver or hardware related problems

Last night my internet kept dropping connection staying the dns server may be unavailable. Would reconnect randomly. Now I have this message staring me in the face. What do I do to fix this?
 
1) Are you using a wired or wireless connection?
2) If wired, are you directly connected to the modem or through a router?
3) Have you contacted your ISP yet?

First two questions will be what the ISP will ask you. The ISP would most likely advise you to connect to a different port that they may recommend.
 
Try first with the modem, Shut that down for 10 secands and see if that work's. I had to do that after a big storm hit my place.
 
Connected directly to the modem no routers. The connection is wired. I have tried testing the modem with no change.
 
Spur of the moment decision made me run malwarebytes. That found some 800 odd hits, and after I quarantined them and restarted my internet magically worked. >.> Anyways thanks for your help guys. Appreciate you trying.
