Need a new gaming headset

Hey everyone,

A Cyber Acoustics headset I purchased back at the end of January has already broken. So much for that. I treated it well and everything. I could hear the plastic cracking every so often when I removed the headset from my head. I thought about it, but didn't think that the ear muff would be detached from the rim of the headset! :O

All of this to say, I am looking for suggestions when I go to purchase a new gaming headset this time around. That one was about $35, and I feel comfortable spending in about that range (give or take $5 either way). Thanks!

Did your purchase come with a warranty? I know a lot of gaming gear I have purchased in the past usually had anywhere from a 6 months-1 year warranty period. I would check up on that and see if you are covered with your headset. If not, I have found something of similar price.

Thankfully it did come with a one-year warranty, and the company is supposed to be sending me a refund check today (long story short, for some reason frys.com still had it in stock despite the product being discontinued two or more years ago according to the representative from the headset company).

In regards to your suggested headset, do you or anyone you know use this one? Quality is great, but as you can tell durability is also important to me. Thanks!

i also am looking for a new headset i wanted to try and stay with company's like Turtle Beach, Razer, Steel Series, Logitech or Cooler Master company's i know and trust

i've never had any creative headsets if ya'll can recommend one for me too

oh and they need to have sound boost or drivers seeing as i'm o a laptop and can't get adjust my sound too much

Also, I just read someone's review from a few weeks ago that the headset you posted is very uncomfortable. That is a turn off to me. :thumbdown:

Well, I know it's double the price range I stated I was looking for, but I couldn't resist on this one. I went with the Razer Kraken Pro. It costed about $67 through Target's website (the lowest priceI could find). Not only was it the third top rated headset on an article by PC Gamer, but my friend has also had one since before I purchased my other headset and speaks highly of it. Especially compared to the prices of the other top rated headsets by PC Gamer, it seemed like a good deal for the buy. We shall see.

Hi guys, check out the Steelseries 3H headset. I have had mine for about 5 years and still going strong and I may buy me a backup set for this price. These sound great and built in sound card and mic.

I had one for a year and a half before I changed mine. I never had a problem with comfort. I never thought it was uncomfortable but that really comes down to preference. I've used creative headsets for the past 4 years and I have never had a single problem. Now if you drop your headset, yeah it will probably crack or break but that's not really what durability means in terms of a headset. The quality is good, microphone itself is durable and easy to move to your liking. Head band is adjustable. Padding on the ear pieces and head band. Would recommend it. :thumbup1:

I think you will like that choice. I have the Razer BlackShark but the Kraken would have been my second choice. Ultimately, I was sold on the BlackShark because of its aviator design.

I'm using the corsair vengence 2100s right now, actually just got them today and so far I really like them !

Logitek, steelseries and razer have some really good headsets ranging from price, comfort and sound. Go check out their lineup of stuff!

My old CS team use to be sponsored by Razer so I went through their headsets and personally I would stay away from their sound area, their mice are great but the headsets are more for looks then performance. If you want a mid range headset that sounds great without needing a sound card then I would look into the GameCon 780 which now I believe they have a 788. It has a built in virtual 7.1 which makes the need for a sound card almost useless.

I have a GameCon 780 and just before that I had the SteelSeries Siberia V2 Frost and out of about the 20 headsets I have owned the GameCon 780 is by far the most comfortable, my ears do not get sore or over heat.
