Some of you may have noticed my erratic presence lately. I've gone away for my birthday not too long ago, followed by a week in Los Angeles, and then most recently I went away for Lawyercon. Since, surprisingly, some of you missed me, I thought I'd share some of the photos I took in LA. Pardon the dreadful quality of the camera on the Nintendo 3DS.
Entrance to the Chinese Theater, which is every bit as impressive as you probably imagined and more.
The Hollywood Bowl. That indistinct white thing on the farthest mountain is the Hollywood sign.
Sunny, downtown LA. This is on the opposite side of the street from the Walt Disney Theater.
Sean Connery's prints outside the Chinese Theater. The man is so intense, he put his feet right in the wet cement.
Part of a large mural in the central dome of the Griffith Observatory. Note Atlas holding up the world to the left, the Pleiades beside him, Zeus seated on his throne, and Aphrodite relaxing on the right.
The United States Capitol and Washington Monument, built entirely out of Lego bricks. Legoland California is a small engineering wonder.
The Eiffel Tower next to the MGM Grand Resort, also constructed out of Lego bricks.
Lego Empire State Building. Note the scale of these buildings by the people in view.
Lego Golden Gate Bridge. Lego San Francisco is nearby. It's all built on a slope, so apparently City Escape was topographically correct.
I wonder how long it took to build this out of Legos.

A trip to the Getty Villa reveals Demeter giving grain and the chariot to Triptolemus. Triptolemus appears to be a bad driver because it looks like he's about to run over Kore.
DON'T BLINK
Hercules punching the Nemean Lion in the face, proving he was the mythological equivalent of Chuck Norris.
Hermes in a mercurial mood.
Roman Emperor Tiberius, wondering why I'm taking a picture of him despite the fact that there is a "No Photography" indicator on the corner of the pedestal on which he is standing.
The outer peristyle of the Getty Villa. If you stand at the far end of it, you can see into the Pacific Ocean forever.
Speaking of not blinking, an amphora depicting Medusa, specifically her eyes.
The gateway to Paramount Studios. About fifty feet to the right is the bench Tom Hanks sat on in Forrest Gump. If you make a wish while passing under the archway, it's supposed to come true.
