Whats your best standalone Microphone with no feedback and good sound. Durable and decent quality not too expensive.

Usb preferable

Because I have a beastly headset with perfect sound but the mic is abit muffly

Are you using onboard sound or a sound card?

I might be the barer of bad news, but I dont think a usb based mic will help solve the issue. I may be wrong on this though. What kind of headset do you have by chance?

I know pc's... I have had mics which are really good on headsets in the past.. I have a soundcard and I have found a couple of decent SA Mics

Depends on your budget but I say Blue Yeti if you can spring for it.

Professional USB standalone mic. #1 with podcasters. Has great sound quality and if you search on Amazon, you can usually find a pretty good deal on them.

It's also plug-in-play so no drivers to install and compatible with PC or Mac.

Ive been told from a few streamers and a professional gamer that [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Audio-Technica-AT2020-Cardioid-Condenser-Microphone/dp/B0006H92QK#productDetails[/ame] is one of the best out of the box mics

^Pretty much this. The Yeti sounds amazing -- my best bud VinceBlood uses it for his LPs and his voice comes through clean and clear. It's one of the highest-quality mics around, and it's fairly cheap compared to some of the ones you can get -- if you can afford it, go for it. I imagine it will only sound a bit better with a decent soundcard, but I'm not sure if that will impact the mic much (if at all).

Audio-Technica makes great headphones and standalone mics and I don't think that one would be a bad choice -- but if you asked me? Most of the best LPers I personally know use the Yeti; even some of the really popular, prominent famous LPers on Youtube and Twitch, etc. use the Yeti, if that gives you any idea!

Here's a link to the mic in action. [Mature language warning]

A lot of youtubers use this, the quality is insane for the price. You will definitively get your moneys worth with this mic. You will need a pop filter for this mic.

I used to use the Blue Snowball, and it was a great mic. I recently switched to the Blue Yeti and I really like it. Great quality. Seems that Blue products are pretty good quality.

I've had my blue snowball for a year now, and it's so much easier than having a headset mic in my opinion.

It can sure take a beating too, I may or may not have dropped it from high places a couple of times...

Please look for a quieter fan , as well. (or make sure your microphone has wind-canceling technology ;)

The Yeti should be more than enough for your purposes.

Funny thing... prior to finding this thread, I had recently bought off my friend's Blue Eyeball -- because he was upgrading to a Yeti. And I've spoken with him over Skype for over two years, so I know just how good of a quality the Eyeball brings.

Imagine a quality of the Yeti, but slightly less, less expensive, and beautifully portable.
