Youtube 'might be'' buying Twitch for 1 billion

We are totally screwed. If they do anything other than implement adsense, I will be upset.

It says "to acquire." That does not mean that YouTube will for sure buy Twitch.

This [ame="http://www.gamespot.com/articles/youtube-to-buy-twitch-for-1-billion-report/1100-6419720/"]article[/ame] notes that Google and Twitch haven't even officially said anything about this whole ordeal.

As if twitch didn't have enough viewers already. Remember how Twitch plays pokemon, broke the chat system. It's only going to get worse now that youtube aquired it.

Their are 3 other articles about this stating that they did buy it.

Please link to the articles stating that a purchase has gone through, the last update on the linked article states the following

PC Gamer said:
Update: According to The Wall Street Journal, "the talks are at an early stage, and a deal isn't imminent." That's what they've been told by "two people familiar with the matter". In addition, one source claims that Twitch "has considered raising additional funding instead of selling the company".

The most I'm able to find are statements such as the above, which clearly says that no deal has been made and that the company hasn't been sold. Nor has there been any official statement by either companies on the matter as of yet.

Same thread is over here in the Tech Talk:

Another report from Gamespot says Variety has an inside source saying a deal has been inked for the sale of Twitch for more than $1 Bln USD.

pfft who looks at tech talk :p

You're just jealous I posted the news about this 30 mins before you. :P

Plus, you know by now that I post interesting tech news in Tech Talk. It relates to tech and we're talking about it, are we not? ;)

This is in its very early stages. Youtube made a very low offer to twitch, and twitch responded with the 1 billion counter offer which is what everyone is reporting now.

I could only find the 1 other article, the other for some reason was taken down. Please note the update section was not their when i made this post. All in all i think they will buy them.

Probably deleted for the inaccuracy of the report to be honest.

Also:
UPDATE: The Wall Street Journal disputes this, and claims that while a deal is indeed being worked on, "The talks are at an early stage, and a deal isn't imminent"

This is from the article you just linked. Again, there has been no confirmation whatsoever that Google is confirmed to buy Twitch.
