Well, the title just about sums it up.

EA is apparently shutting down the online Multiplayer-component to approximately 50 EA games, which really annoys me cause I play multiplayer on some of these games with friends or family, and some of these games are really only fun in Multiplayer.

LAN I believe will still work if the game supports it, but otherwise.. :|

(Also from the list this doesn't seem to affect the BF division)

The online multiplayer components of 50 EA titles are to be disabled on June 30 as part of the publisher's latest wave of server shutdowns.

The closures affect a variety of popular titles, including Command & Conquer: Red Alert 3, Command & Conquer: Generals, Crysis 2 and Crysis Warhead, and multiple Battlefield titles, including Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield Vietnam. The PS3 version of Bulletstorm will also be taken offline.

Some of the closures are believed to be linked to GameSpy's imminent server switch off.

EA had previously suggested that some of the titles affected, such as Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 2142, would remain online following GameSpy's closure, stating that it was "working on transitioning those games after the shut down so you'll still be able to play them". That doesn't appear to be the case anymore, however.

If the games have a lan mode then just download a program called Hamachi so you can still play with your friends online, it fakes a lan connection.

I would like to see them award people who supported the games they now can't play with something small. Not talking about anything big. Maybe a skin for BF4 for the people that had the battlefield games because now they can't play them, because of being an online only game.

I agree, this stinks. I play a lot of these too and some are just not fun without the multiplayer component to them.

I know. This completely blows. I still play BF2. I recently bought it again after 5 years during a steam sale and fell in love with the game again. Now they're closing it down T_T.

This definitely works. I used it a year ago when I decided to play an old game called "Two Worlds" with some buddies of mine.
