Steam Friends not working in-game

I think I know why my steam friends doesn't work but I tried the solution and it still didn't fix it. The problem was Kaspersky AV but I uninstalled it and it still won't work.
I bought tf2 and g-mod during the time I had Kaspersky(around Dec 28 maybe) and they are the only games that steam friends doesn't work in. I tested it in CSS,TFC,DODS(all bought in July) then I downloaded a couple game trials after I uninstalled Kaspersky and it worked on them but still not in tf2 or g-mod! Can't talk to people on steam without min tf2 !sad

Anyone have an idea as to why this happens? Yes I did re-install tf2 (cough 6 times) or if you have a place I can download all the tf2 files since I think mine are broken or something. Anyone else have this problem?
Solutions I have tried-
Uninstalling tf2
Changing the key for activating steam community
disabling and then re-enabling it

I have the same problem. Sometimes it works, but the next time I restart Steam, it bugs up again.

Your best bet would be to put TF2 in windowed mode (Esc, Options, Video). This can also be done by opening up 'My Games', right-clicking TF2, going to Properties, click 'Set Launch Options' and adding "-window" to that box.

I'm having the same problem. Steam friends is still buggy. You just have to hope the next update fixes it.

It is? Well...have you tried deleting all of steam? I mean I remember when my skins were giving me trouble(when I used to have them on CS:S) I had to remove all of Steam or else have all of my .vtf files disappear...but hmm...yeah other than that go with pipcorona's explanation ^^

When in-game, go to the menu and for me it should work, i have to hit Shift+Tab a couple of times before it comes up, just try it in-game and on the menu a bit!

It sometimes doesn't respond to the first button-press, but it always comes up if I hit it a time or two. I bind it to F12 because shift-tab is so inconvenient in game. (And I have shift bound to voice)
